put a cummins in it!!!!..........or not,glad you're here instead of the other forums. a 4-600 hp 460 home built, hhhhhmmmm? have you built any motors before? have you ever ported head's? what did you expect to spend on the 351? it ain't that hard to do but money makes it easier. by the way what gear ratio you plan on runnin'? and is this truck gonna really get used?

 

yes, its going to get used, if i didnt want to use it i would of just left the 9 inch and d44 in and just put a 9 inch suspension and 3 body on it and been satisfied. im going to run 5.38s havent built a motor but the machinest and i are good friends and he said he would come and not do it but show me to how to do it

 

pick a cam that matches yer rpm's and converter with your gears and tires. how old are you? dillin makes you sound young

guys as i have said many times on here i aint here to tell you guys i know more cause i dont. but im not stupid, i mean i have experience but nothing like making a hugetruck, but im here for your help. i mean it doesnt bother me if you wanna make fun of me but im 17 so im not an expert, either way im going to build this thing and im going to make it as nice and safe as possible. i know im going to spend big bucks i have all the basic stuff in my head, yes i still have a million questions but i know how i wanna build and setup alot of things on it.

Take a look at Pauls 460 build (my old motor that Rob spec'd for me 5ish years ago)

Stock block .030 over decked .010
Stock crank and rods
stock replacement .030 pistons since I busted a couple of mine
-I was using speedpro hypers for about 9.3-4:1 comp
D3 heads decked .010. Mild port work on the exhaust side.
Comp Cams x4262h cam with 927-16 springs 7* locks and retainers
Stealth intake with 1" spacer and a Holley 750 vac secondary.
Duraspark distributor
1 3/4 primary headers.
chrome valve covers

Desktop dyno (yeah I know its never right) said the motor made something like 390hp at 4500rpm and 500tq at like 2500rpm. I really liked that motor and it was reliable - best of all I got about 12mpg with 4.56s and 38.5s when I kept my foot out of the secondaries for minutes at a time.

I think Paul is enjoying it also.

If you want to know about price and what needs done with 460's contact Reincarnation high performance. That guy knows 460's and can do some good work on heads. Reccomended by alot of guys on 460 forum. Stock bottom end can handle the power.
I have a simular build to what alpha stated. Stock bottom, KB pistons .030, lunati cam that was slightly modded, Weiand stealth, Holley 750 ( that might change though) L&L longtubes, Ported D3's(exhaust and intake), Duraspark ignition, Re-curved dizzy. Should be real reliable and I think I'm only in about 2 grand. But I havn't added everything up and I already had the Holley and L&L's. Assembled Heads, Cam, Lifters and Dizzy came from Scott at Reincarnation.
