what are you running for gearing?

Is that a flat or do you just have the bed off?

I've got the bed off

Came from the factory as an incomplete and spent most of its life with a welding body. The PO pulled that off for his other rig and put a 80-86 bed on it. It fits fine, but the truck isn't made for it; the axle sits back a couple of inches, so it isn't centered in the fender.

This shows how it sits...

Never did bother me until somebody pointed out that the wheelbase is different; it's bugged me since!

Thanks, though! I've got plans for her... just taking my time to get it done.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that jackwagon was me. So what's the plan for it, moving the axle forward, or moving the bed towards the rear. Oh, and by the way, your axle width don't quite match the bed width either lol

It wouldn't be that hard to do a little metal work on the box and move the inner wheel wells and the fender mounting locations.

Yeah, it was you. I noticed the width - it doesn't bother me quite as much as where it sits on the frame. I'm not quite sure if I want to touch it or not; I'm going to finish up painting and see if I can live with it.

I'd like to ultimately have a new suspension setup for a better ride, so if I do that the axle is moving.

It could be done, but I'd rather move the axle than go through all that body work.

As long as you like removing rivots. I know I had fun removing 62 rivots when I slid the axle forward on my 84 F250 chassis. You won't have that many to mess with though.

And don't forget you'll need to have the driveshaft shortened too.

That's what makes me want to leave it all alone.

But I do like breaking out the torch!

Well it's an awful lot of work to move it a few inches. At least when I did mine I slid it forward 45"!

Don't forget you'd also need to move the shock mounts, the overload spring brackets, bump stops and at least one crossmember. That's why I brought up the metalwork/body work. I think it's easier.
