This one is retired and now just a dd and or toy.
It looks different now, I have added nerf bars moose lights and a nice bug shield.
Yesterday I aquired all the lariat interior interior from a 88, so now I will be changing the dash and door panels. One never gets through with a toy, a work rig is easier lol.
Thanks, unless something bad happens to her I will keep it forever. But like I said you never get through upgrading them. I will run across a D60 one of these days that will be begging to get under there. (and for what I do the D50 is fine). I have already installed a tilt wheel and captions chairs, you just cant stop. Now I traded for all 88 lariat interior even lighted mirrors in the sunvisors, it just never ends lol.
If I ever trade up my truck or even if my dad does for that matter, I am making a trip south to get some rust free gold to build on. Have a passport now and those rigs are just too nice to go to waste.
I suspect an E4OD, 3.55 gears, Dana 60 front end and a turbo/studded 6.9 is all the truck he will ever need for the rest of his life. He would probably get a better turning circle than his current GMC and I'd have a way easier time maintaning it. I hate doing an oil change on that thing. Pours all over the front drive shaft.
David real clean 2x are easier to come by than 4Xs but they are around and a lot of the time you can find an older couple that pulled a camper and has a turbo already.
Here is the 88 that I traded for day before yesterday it was a 2X, and was my neighbors truck 123,000 miles and stayed under a carport out of the sun.
Check out the interior, now I have to put electric windows and the 88 dash in my dually.
The only reason I stopped was to try to trade him out of the brown seat for my other one. lol
Going to 4wd is like going to diesel. Once you have one, you never want to go back. I don't think I can convince him to settle for a 2wd. it would also have to be auto. I would consider some form of ground up project that involves a body swap though. Strip it down to the bare shell, and put it back together with all the rust fighing tricks I learned over the years.
I need to stop this crazy talk before I get myself in too much trouble
That Is why I pickup some real clean 2X abd swap to 4x when the 2X motor goes down manY folks don't want to spend the money to fix them (me included), so once in awhile I can pickup a nice one.
I dont have pics of my 85 but it is a xtra cab with t19 4wd and hyd dump bed, my project rig is 54 ****** wagon I am going to attempt a 7.3 with a ATS and a zf5 spd from a 88
as spring comes I will make progress but a open carport dont make comfortable working conditions
yes and yes
I have a 84 wagoneer that I am going to use for frame, suspension, brakes and diffs
motor in picture is actually a 6.9 but I also have a 88 f250 4wd chassis that Ill be getting the running gear from. I am expecting to have to move the firewall back and quite possibly fabbin the front end to tilt. waiting on the weather to warm a bit to get all the parts out of the respectable rigs and start fitting it together. If it all just bolted in it would just be another rig but to tell you the truth I have never seen this done, it prolly has but I havent seen it
1985 F350 Cab and Chassis Long Wheelbase - 6.9 N/A, T19, 2wd Dually
This is the truck I have a Roll-Off system designed for, that way I can use the truck for multiple uses and not have 4 dedicated trucks! The long wheelbase will really help, there's 11' of frame behind the cab.
Bought this truck for $100, not running. 6.9, 4 speed, 2wd, cab and chassis dually, homemade steel flatbed with wood floor. The '65 body is going on this chassis to get rid of the obsolete '65 chassis, and upgrade to IDI power and a modern chassis.
