Did I ever mention how I called a guy out at Sears for saying their Diehard battery is better than an Optima?
and yeah... i don't know how my key was on, or why my battery was still connected, but I shocked myself on the starter solenoid. pain in the butt.
literally
and Grant, with laptop screens you're kinda screwed. if it's just the cover, aka the back, you're fine. but 99.999% it's not.
depending on the age, you can either send it in and have it replaced by the manufacturer, which can be very costly.
you can also start browsing craigslist, ebay, and any other site that works like those, to see if you can find a laptop just like yours to replace the screen with.
A lot of people on craigslist will sell their laptops if there is a motherboard failure, small things like that are costly to repair also.
As for the replacing part, it's very simple.
take out screws, remove plastic covers, remove wires, remove old screen, put new one in, attach wires, put plastic covers back on, screw it back together. When you go to boot it, you should be all set then
depending on your finances, you could also go and buy a new one. laptops are so inexpensive now a days, it's ridiculous.
I feel like a ****ing idiot. I had it in my truck, using it as a map.
I had to stop fast and it hit the shifter.
if it's only 6 months old, see if you can still get the parts from the manufacturer, prices really vary between them.
you could also, because it's only 6 months old, see if you can get it replaced through the manufacturer.
What brand do you have?

I go up to the checkout and ask one of the employees if they still carry Optima, and he said no, but then said "Diehard -model of battery- have Absorbent Glass Mat technology, <other stuff>, they're better than Optima...". When I heard that last part, something clicked, and I said, "Better than Optima? I've had one since '05, it's been through a dead alternator, several other charging system failures, a 17 volt overcharge, and still allowed my truck to hold an idle at 10.5 volts when the alternator died....that Diehard's gonna have to be a great battery to be better than an Optima...".
I'll be a ricer owner before I believe that though. My Optima's survived quite a bit of stuff, I'm a lifelong customer now. And it even did just fine when I used to go and listen to the 200 watt stereo in my truck for an hour or more at a time, with the volume up a good bit. It'd crank the next morning like nothing even happened.

craftsman is ok, but all the other things are kinda eh and overpriced

I used to have some Craftsman tools, but I haven't the slightest clue where they got off to. Heck. I probably had 200 pounds worth of tools and other stuff in the toolbox I had on my truck for several years. It managed to whittle itself down to a tiny little carry-along toolbox....
I'm gonna see if I can find my tools today.
BTW I had some cheapie vice grips break on me one day when I was using them on something. One of the plier parts broke off and shot across the shop at like 100 miles per hour, hit the wall, and fell down behind some stuff. I never found it, but I'm glad my head wasn't in the way. lol
EDIT: The Hannah Montana one is courtesy of yours truly :P
