Well for every idiot who doesn't appreciate something like these old trucks (and the new ones too), there's a bunch of people who do.
I can't imagine what my reaction would've been if someone woulda suggested that I trade my truck in for C4C. lol
I mean, I'm still annoyed that a guy at the local Ford dealer several years ago asked if my truck was going to be the trade-in for a new vehicle. Uh, how about not?
And another thing...if gas mileage is such a big deal to the government, then why don't they trade in those big ol' armored Suburbans for Priuses and Smart Cars? :P
Yea....I do believe one of those nice Holley Truck Avenger carbs would help my mileage a good bit, if tuned properly...that and headers, a complete tune up, etc....
I've got a co-worker who did a traded in her dad's 90s vintage Mercury with a 5.0 HO engine for an entry-level Nissan. (She wanted payments as low as possible.) The only "expensive" problem with the Mercury were that the factory air shocks were bad. It was not even my car and I was bummed.
Hey guys! Just a reminder... I am seeing quite a bit of chat in the Mugshots and FS/WTB threads. It gets deleted. Please post only new photos of yourself in the Mugshots thread. Please post only For Sale or Want to Buy in the Swap Meet thread. Do not reply to the Mugshots thread unless you post a photo with your reply. Replys are not allowed at all to the FS/WTB thread. Use email or pmail.

Its bad enough trying to remember everyone's real name, let alone what they look like.
So, here you go. Post up a mug shot of yourself and real name.
Mine is easy. Stosh is Polish for Stanley.
Bring it!

Post what you have for sale or want to buy here. List price and condition.
Posting rules:
ALL replys and discussion must be conveyed through PM or email. Do not post replys to this thread.
List only items and parts for '80-'86 trucks or accessorys that will fit our trucks.
Keep it brief. List only what you have or what you want, price and condition. Your location for pick up or methood of shipping. Any narrative about your project, why you want it or what you want to do with it is just a distraction and prompts others to post replys which will be deleted.
No links to ebay sales.
When the item is sold, you must post back saying so. Then both posts will be removed. If you have multiples of the same or similar items, post back when the last one is sold.
These rules may be changed or modified to meet the needs of the forum. So check here for info before you post. I'm thinking periodically it should be purged clean and start fresh. You can give me any feedback here, but after I read it, I will delete it. So don't get your feelings hurt.
If people -need- a new vehicle, of course I can't object to that....but which would you prefer, an older vehicle that gets somewhat worse mileage but is paid off and is yours free and clear, or would you rather get a little better mileage with a new vehicle, but have to pay $200 or $300 a month on it? The money you save with the better mileage is lost to the payments you have to make.
And people don't think about this (gee, I wonder why?), but gas mileage isn't the only place you can change your spending habits....for example, turn off lights when you're not in a room, use CFL bulbs instead of incandescent ones, adjust your AC and Heater thermostats.....plus, keep your car tuned up....it can't give you good mileage if you never change the oil, filters, or keep enough air in your tires.

CFC will only serve to make our trucks more valuable to future generations. On the other hand, I recently noticed that "Ford Racing Performance Parts" has dropped the factory 351W from their product line. It was available last spring for $2200.
Yep. Honestly, before I found this site, I was disappointed that I never saw any of the 80-86 trucks being customized in magazines. All I ever saw were Chevys and newer trucks. But then I found this site, and it turns out these ol' trucks are alot more popular than I thought.
Well there's your excuse to step up to the 460. LOL
A friend and i were checking out the car lots tonight. An happened to come across some C4C'ers.
One was basically a PERFECTLY (no dents, fresh looking paint) 2000's Chevy S-10. Beautiful truck, had a topper, and some add ons even. Of course that pretty trucks gunna get it here soon...
I think whoever came up with C4C musta been huffin' some of that hybrid exhaust by-product.... lol
I rewired my tach and Autometer gauge power wires today.....used some neat little piggyback spade connectors to run three power wires together, and I have them on a 20 amp fuse on an ignition-hot circuit on my fuse box under the dash.
What got me was the fact that the voltmeter reads a solid 14 now, whereas it was reading ~13 when I had it on a toggle switch with it and the temp gauge on it. Which is strange, because the power for that switch was coming straight off the battery, via an add-on fusebox I put in last year or so. The needle seems to wiggle just a bit now though, whereas before it was perfectly still. I guess it's all that old factory wiring.
And I also pulled some wiring I no longer needed, that I had put in in the past....I eventually plan to trace where all the red wires I put in go to, then eventually rewire it all with different colors of wire. Cuz it's hard to figure out where that red wire is coming from when it's in with a bunch of other red wires. lol
