Dave.

P.S. I have a 6.4 and have only had to do the same thing you as you state "Change fluids regularly, filters regularly, and your plugs", oh except for the plugs thing.
Except for when your turbos go, and it's off with the cab, or when you have to replace a fan belt, and it takes 5 hours. It's just too damn complicated.

Except when yours throws a plug or has exhaust flutter and runs like **** or splits the lower radiator hose (like mine did) or stopped running one day with 40k miles and had to be towed to the Ford dealership (like mine did), etc....see I can play the game too.

Have you owned a 6.4? Nope I bet. I owned a v10. Next time you are around a Ford dealership go in ask the service manager about warranty claims on the 6.4 and how it compares to the 7.3 and 6.0. It may surprise you.

And like I said, if you really want to own a vehicle that will give you the least amount of headaches, you should not have gone with Ford in the first place.

1. My statement is backed up with fact and quantitative evidence...and I don't own a Toyota.

2. In summary a web forum troll is someone who posts items often for no reason than to garner responses and attention due the sensational nature of the topic. With all due respect Bill you make outrageous claims that are very often incorrect. Someone points this out or asks you legitimate questions to which you ignore and then go on to make other out non-factual outrageous claims. You have done this with me on this thread and I can provide evidence.

There is very good evidence at the 3v v10's towing prowess, in fact you may or may not know about the pickup truck shootout where the v10 nearly matched, and in some cases, bested pulling capabilities by the big 3's diesels. I find this article if you like, it is quite a good read. But, if you are going to make baseless claims and ignore legitimate discussion in favor or sensationalism, I would call that trolling.

Dave,

I read that, somebody posted it 40-60 pages back. something like, 15% slope, 10,000 load and they drag raced them. the V10 had 6 MPH over the 6.4 by the top. Is that the one?

Yes, that was the test. It was quite compelling.

Yours out of how many? Overall, the general trend is that the V10 is very reliable. Sorry about yours.

Have you owned a 6.4? Nope I bet. I owned a v10. Next time you are around a Ford dealership go in ask the service manager about warranty claims on the 6.4 and how it compares to the 7.3 and 6.0. It may surprise you.
I bet there have been more claims on the 7.3L out of all the engines, seeing as the 7.3 has been around for 4 years, not counting the previous versions before that, and the 6.0 which was around for 3.5 years, compared to the 6.4, that has only been around for 2 or so. Great argument. As for owning a 6.4, no I have not, but I work closely with a guy who does, and it has been nothing but a headache for him so far. He does not have over 15k miles on the truck, and already the turbos have gone out once, among other issues.

And like I said, if you really want to own a vehicle that will give you the least amount of headaches, you should not have gone with Ford in the first place.
I would disagree with that as well, as many of the Fords I have owned have not had much trouble. But again, this is a debate on engines here.

I will restate that I used to have a v10 and loved it but for the gas crowd to call the 6.4 a POS, say it sucks, or that it can be outpulled by a v10 is absurb.
I don't think anyone here is claiming that, and if they are, thats just ridiculous. The 6.4L is a beast, but it does have some problems. You simply cannot refute that.

wow, I did not see how far behind the V10 the dodge and Chevy gassers were the first time I read it. Is the V10 the only great gas motor left? They should bring back the 454....
EDIT, it is amazing how close all the diesels are.

You know that applies to the diesels as well! You guys like to claim all psd's have problems w/ turbos, egr's, injectors, etc. But the fact is they are a minority. I actually know more guys that blew spark plugs out of v10's than guys that have had issues with thier 6.0's.

BTW, the 7.3 psd ran for 9 years (94.5 thru early 03)

add another 7 years for the previous versions of the 7.3 (88-94)

Oh of course. But I think overall that the diesels have some more problems than the V10 does. Nothing about a diesel is as simple as the V10 is, and I believe that leads to more problems.

What have you done to your V10? If you say stock then what can you do to it this side of a super charger?$?$ You will find most PDS drivers have modded there truck because it is far less expensive and you get more bang for the buck. Iam I wrong?
