I've pulled up to 11k with no problems. My truck doesn't use any oil towing or regular use. I don't see anyone complaining of using oil with the 6.2. Your way off with that comment.
You might want to go through the pages again in the 6.2 section. And not just the first couple of pages but I believe there is a thread about oil consumption.
Ahh the sweet reading of PSD vs Gas thread. I missed it.
I'm actually going through this debate myself. It's one of the reasons I haven't committed to buying a truck yet. I'm looking used 2005-2007 6.0 or a V10. I have found one of each (well several) I'm fond of and in my price range. Funny this thread comes back up. It won't change/make up my mind any but still fun to read!

Honestly if those are your choices I would get the V-10 3V.
I don't have any fear of the 6.0. Like the V10 it's a misunderstood engine.
The 6.0 will blow up the second you turn the key, if it manages not to blow up and starts it will steal your Cheetos and run off with your wife and dog (take the wife leave the dog!).
The V10 spins at 25,000RPM to make what little power it does and can't pass a gas station without stopping. It won't steal anything but talks about you behind your back.

Yah maybe there is a thread, buried somewhere. The 6.2 is not and is not known as an oil, consuming engine.
I wonder again how much oil is it that flatbed ed says his truck uses?
I have always been a diesel guy, because I love diesels, but if you get down to it, the majority of super duty owners have no need for a diesel.
Most people on this site don't work with their trucks, it's their toy. Which is completely fine, but check out other forums for people that use their trucks for truck purposes, carpenters, plumbers, construction companies, full fleets, landscapers, Mason's, etc... They are all leaning towards gas engines now. When you're using the truck as a tool, it's only the dollar that matters

Hell those guys could use a half ton. People who actually uses their super duty like a super duty should be used as far as heavy towing and hauling then diesel is the only way to go. What I see what most gassers use their super duty for a half ton can do it. So honestly what's the purpose of buying a super duty with a gasser. Just get a f150.

True for some but not all. The last 17 hours my superduty gasser hasn't shut off with 5k in the bed and an 1100 pound plow on the front. All summer it tows daily, up to 14k. Should I trade it and get a half ton?
But I agree, long distance heavy hauling needs a diesel.
But that is usually(not always) done for play, which is what 95% of this forum is

A diesel would handle tow 14k better with better fuel mileage. If you tow that much weight for months straight you need a diesel not a gas engine in your super duty.
