I am just going by my past experience with the v10. I could hook it up to my gooseneck and it would start moving it up to 30 mph then it would start struggling. You could not even keep it at 55. The trailer weighs about 20000 pounds.
What tranny?
the most I have ever towed was 22,000 combined, about 5K less than you.
I had no problem at all at speed, but with my 4R100 I could not get it moving until about 30 MPH when I really got the revs up. Before that it felt like I needed to down shift.
I got up to 75 with that load and the V10 had no problem.
I am going to run this motor to death before I do any real mods or put a new one in. I want to see how long it will last. At the point it dies that is what I will do.
JL, thanks for the help on both this and the 4.6 heads thread, you add a lot to this site and we appreciate it.
Have you ever thought of posting a tech sticky with the NPI,PI, 3V, etc. differences ?

Providing you do not have a piston lodged in your exhaust manifold...
We had a little bit of snow(6 inches) that somehow managed to knock down a ton of trees and power lines. Something like 17,000 people here have been without power since friday night. I had 3 trees knocked down in my yard and 1 fell on my house. Luckily it didn't do any damage. We had 3 feet of snow back in about 92 or 93 and never lost power or had the first tree go down.
It's not too cold, and I think that's what the problem is. It's been around 32-35 degrees with a low of 15. So the snow was really wet when it landed on trees and power lines and it stuck really good. Then at night when it got cold it froze solid. Dry snow doesn't pack very well and doesn't weigh much, and generally gets blown off by a slight breeze. It's up to about 45 today, so most of it is starting to melt.
