Yes I know. I need to get some Stage 2 injectors, that will put me up past the 6.0 and I will still have a dependable truck. It will really roll some coal too. HAHAHAHA
I like the idea of the V-10 Bill. I was bummed out that Ford only gave it 6.8 liters though. At the time Dodge had theirs with 8.0liters and I thought Ford dropped the ball. I almost bought an excursion with the V-10 but the displacement didn't sit well with me. So instead I bought a Durango with the 5.9. LOL I do not have it anymore, and now I want an Excursion with the 7.3.
Ford would have had to build a whole new motor to do that.
The 4.6/5.4/6.8 famliy has very close bore spacing and can't be made much bigger.
The new 6.2 has a wider bore spacing so it can be bored wider and have biger valves.
If they would make a V10 off of it (like they did off the 5.4), it could be a 7.8 V10 making close to 500 HP and 600 TQ.
Why would the smaller displacement turn you away from it though?
I know a guy that has owned both a ford and a dodge V10, He said they both towed the same and the Ford had better MPG's.
I will be the first to say the dodge sounds better.....
. At the time Dodge had theirs with 8.0liters and I thought Ford dropped the ball. .
If you like 8-9 mpg empty fuel mileage, then I'd say they did.
IMO, Ford hit the nail right on the head in a compromise of efficiency and power with the 6.8L.
JL
I mainly use my rollback for all wheel drive vehicles, and picky people, who think their 86 Century needs a flatbed. LOL.
The ones that I like are the people that have the s10's that are lowered to about half an inch off the ground........ We pulled one like that about a year ago and it took forever to get it loaded. We had to put 2x6's in front of the tires and pull it forward a few inches at a time onto gradually higher stacks of 2x6's until we could get it on the rollback.
