I just turned the key to start position while going 160, flys after that. When the chip was on it did it just pedal to the floor. Probably takes a while to stop and thats why I don't like doing that much. But it is fun

So if I hit the speed limiter and tap the key to start, it will let it keep going faster?

I will have to try that...

I held it on start, don't know if it works on the gassers and I know for sure it doesn't work on the new diesels. It didn't work on my dads 2003 F150

I don't expect it to, but it's worth a try.

Hold it the whole time?

Does it cut out if you let go?

Hold it the whole time, and if I let go it goes back to governed mode

You could do that on my '03 Dodge Ram too. I never did it but I know people that have and they got up to 125 mph. Like rollerstud said - you have to hold the key to start the whole time then when you let it go it gets governed back. Just remember to do this you are forced to drive with only one hand on the wheel.

My BFG mud tires are only good for 112, so I am not going to try it.

Plus now that I am thinking about it, only having my left hand on the wheel and doing a top speed run is a bad idea.

I kind of like being alive.

Doing 100+ in a 99 van with 150,000+ miles on it...no problem. Doing it with only your left hand on the wheel...THAT's the problem.

It's a 98.....

But yes, I feel ok going 105 with both hands on the wheel, but going faster than that and only having one hand on the wheel just seems unsafe.

What part of careening down the highway at 105+ mph in an eight thousand lb. van that handles like a rollerskate on mud terrains is different or less safe when you have five less digits on the reaction wheel?

V10's are better!

I hope you don't make a habit of that, Bill! Even two-handed doesn't quite qualify as safe.

I mean, seriously! If something were to happen to you FTE would be a boring place to be. We need you here, Bill! Someone's gotta stir the pot!

I know, I used to do it a lot more but I have stopped, for the most part.

I raced a chevy 1/2 ton last month and that was the last time I went over 100, at least in my E350.

Haha, so I am now the official pot stirer?

105 with both hands on the wheel is the most I feel safe with, but it is REALLY pushing it.

Going faster than that AND having a hand off the wheel AND going over my tires speed rating seems stupid.

Of course he is going to tow 5.4's and v10's less than he tows 7.3's. The 7.3 has been around a lot longer than the 5.4 or v10, 90% of all f-250's-up came with a powerstroke, the 7.3 also came in International trucks and the majority of 7.3's are waaaaay past 200k miles.

Where did you come up with that number?

Around here it is about 50% PSD
45% 5.4 and 5% V10.
