Part VI
I'd own a Dodge Cummins truck. My dad had one it was a great truck - even though you guys are absolutely correct in that it had some serious issues when it came to how cheaply the body/interior and other parts were constructed. You just can't beat on em the way you can on a Powerstroke. If I had one I'd make it the "fast" truck, and leave the Powerstroke for work.
All vehicles have problems, and all vehicles have their good points too.
If you guys aren't already mad at me - I'll one up ya - There are VERY few Ford's I would own other than my 7.3. Certain Mustangs I would love to have, same with the ol 460 Ford...150 Ranger, lifted, highboy.

Thats sorta what I was thinking Sheldon. The rest of the truck is trash, and I'd even question the health of that motor..who knows how long it was turned upside down and what else has been crushed.

Im with ya on the vehicle thing. I will admit I am a biased towards ford trucks, but I can recognize that other brands make decent trucks too.
And for cars, well thats a whole different story haha. Theres a reason I have a honda car sitting at my house for the ol lady, and not a ford!
I would have bought a Duramax for towing the trailer, but for the aluminum heads.
I just don't think that a bimetallic engine and diesel fuel should be in the same design.
I really like thier front suspension setup with the CV joint front axle. VERY little unsprung weight compared to the solid axle which will make a much better ride.
I bought the Ford because it was the best package overall.

The only Ford cars I'd be interested in are some of the classic muscle.

I'll add that after looking at trucks for a few months, I knew I would end up buying a Powerstroke. All I did after work for months was look at trucks, and it was very apparent that Ford made a better chassis - bigger parts, more robust. My family are Chevy/Dodge people so I met a lot of resistance when I told them I was going to buy a Ford. My brother and my dad, both mechanic, gave me the thumbs up though.
I will addmidt I am a die hard ford man.I do like the brand X stuff also.

My wife has a dodge caravan, witch has been great for us with the kids.
I guess I am this way because Dad had chevys for years and then he bought a 78 f-250 and has not looked back.He didn't think much of my PSD when I picked it up,until I pull his 4020JD stuck Azz out wih no trouble.

I have worked in the field and on the streets and you can out run a ford but its hard to out work one.

I have owned all of the big three, even had a IH scout at one time.I just like my fords.
Finishing up laundry and heading out the door for breakfast(brunch) and grocery shopping with the family.
About 1" of white crap on the ground again

It's morning, pics???
Hope everyone's been having fun!
Yeah...I hate to break it to you guys...but I am fairly non-specific on brand preference. Really. I will readily admit that even on a Ford site. I think all car manufacturers make good vehicles - and all car manufacturers make *****ty vehicles too.

I am partial to Ford trucks though, that's all we had around growing up.
I did look at Dodge Cummins powered trucks while shopping, but at the time they were all out of my price range for what I wanted. Same with the Dmax trucks.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Mike, I am doing laundry also. And yeah, about 1" of snow here too.
You guys got snow huh? They keep saying we're in for snow but haven't seen anything yet.

The Bronco was a better vehicle
The early IH pickups were tough but crude also and were basically dodge with IH body and motor except the ones that had mopar engines they also used the chrysler automatic transmissions
And again ford was a much better truck

well thats it then. you are now a non person.

but part it out, and he could get 13-14 grand for it.
i have owned and driven just about everything over the years. the 350 Chevy was about the most dependable and easiest to get parts for.
the absolute meanest vehicle i ever drove was the 49 international R190 with the big 6 cylinder gas engine and 20 speed trans.
the 60's and 70's Chrysler vehicles were fun to drive.
the Pontiac's and Oldsmobile's were good cars, but hard to get parts for when they broke.
same with the Packard and Studebaker's. beautiful cars, rode and drove like a dream, but very hard to get parts for, and that was back in the 60's when there were still alot of them on the road.
the ford pickup is the king though. Chevy/GM's ride like cars.
dodges have a very hard ride, and like to have important parts fall off while driving down the road. their fit and finish is below poor anymore. the only thing they have going for them anymore is the engines.
as far as cars go, my nieces and nephews drive imports.
i will give up a few gallons per mile for the comfort of the full size crown vic.
they average around 4 mpg more than our Crown Vic's do.
20 in town, and 30 on the road, compared to the 16 in town and 25-26 on the road the Crown Vic's get.
