Hey Jeremy, Im just thinking out loud here, but didnt the F550/F650 have a Cummins option? Couldnt you just get a throttle cable for one of those? Contact your nearest Medium duty Ford dealer and see if that may save you some time.
Brandon, you are correct about the Cummins option on the bigger trucks. I didn't even think about that. No worries though...the throttle cable is already hooked up now and working well. This evening, I'll post up some pics and a little video of the linkage assembly working.
Figured so much. I was just jackin' with ya anyway. Although I did have to get a video of the linkage so I could watch for any bind, since I'm working alone. Figured I'd post up some kind of action out of the truck. LOL.
So anyway, as I posted earlier, I got the throttle cable all hooked up today. Here are some pics of what I described last night.
And the remedial video of the throttle in action: <a href="http://rides.webshots.com/video/3075024430089903167kDeHrg">Vid of throttle working</a>
Also got the oil filter relocation kit mounted up. The hose routing isn't 100% how I wanted, but I couldn't use 90* fittings in both spots on the top of the relocated filter head because they would hit each other and not screw into place. So the inlet fitting required a 45* fitting with the hose having a half loop under the turbo. Here are a couple pics of the oil filter relocated:
More good news -- the IC tubes and coolant tank showed up today! I now have all the parts and pieces necessary to get the truck running. I had some other obligations this evening to tend to, but I'm taking the day off tomorrow to work on the truck a little in the morning before I have to pack and we leave for the weekend. I'm too worn out to work on it tonight, and I'd rather start with a fresh mind in the morning.
I'll get all the IC tubes and air filter in place first, then tackle the coolant tank and lower radiator hose. Kai said that the truck will run just fine on one battery for a little while too, so I can probably at least get it running without having the second battery in place. If I can get it running tomorrow I will, but I'm not going to rush it. Looks like having it running and driving by next week is very probable though.
Nah, you all wouldn't be interested in that anyway. I think I'm just gonna hang my pants off my a$$ to show my boxers, watch the crock hunter dance a little, and see if I can convince Lisa to ask me to marry her...I'd even put some Super Tech software in her sister's new computer if she said yes.
Too funny bro!!
I can not wait untill this is done. I can only imagine how you are feeling. She is really looking good!
