From what I hear on the radio it sounds like the next week is going to be a bodywork week, good thing. I opened up my transmission and need to replace the 3-4 clutch fork and need to measure the play in the synchronizer, may be a 2 week wait for parts and would have to tear this thing apart to replace the synchro. Might just use the welder to repair the fork and just get new nylon boots for it.
Sunny and 9°C on it's way to 13°C, I hope this weather sticks around.
Good luck with your truck repair Perry.
Have a good day, Grant, Ian and all who lurk here.
Good evening flatlanders
Transmission repair is going 50/50, so far I'm $75 into it but that includes a gallon of gear oil $60. Welded the shifter fork where the nylon boot goes on and machined it back with the angle grinder and will finish it with a file and hacksaw when I get the boots tomorrow. Had a surprise when I took the PTO door off, found the return spring and second gear retaining clip there. I really don't want to have to tear this thing all apart for a spring that goes between the 1st gear and the back wall of the transmission.
Hopefully I'm only rebuilding half of this transmission and not the whole thing. Will talk to the tranny guy tomorrow and see if theres a cheater in this job.
Good evening John, Colin, Grant, Perry, Ian and all who lurk in here.
If your transmission repair gets too deep I still have that one I`m throwing out from a 76 F250/390 Perry.
It was nice day here too, think it hit 13°C.
