If it was left for a few years the roof would be shot. I have an idea for this spring problem, seeing as there's 3 guide prongs that go through the gear and a clip that holds it in place I think I can use 3 springs and assemble it like the horn button on the old indy steering wheels that we had years ago. Wouldn't need to tear my transmission apart to do it. This isn't a high compression strength spring so it shouldn't be that hard to create another way around it.
I hate the terrible things rust does to bare sheet metal.
Hope you can make that idea work for your spring problem, it certainly saves the of hassle of hunting all over.
I've used a hammer and cats claw to knock rust off of plate steel and frames, comes off like scales. I've looked all over the Internet this weekend and the 3 places I thought I found that showed the spring in their catalog can't find the spring and they said they relied on used springs themselves. If I wanted a used spring I'd go down the street to the truck wreckers. If this works there's no tearing the transmission apart.
Its golf and motorcycle season here to.
Highs are about 20 everyday, and lows at night are still ahove 10.
People are out fishing on the lake daily, and PWCs went by yesterday.
Good day to everybody that lurks here. Another nice fall day here, what's it like in Manitoba Grant, Ont. John and in Alberta Perry?
Hope you find that elusive spring, what make, model of transmission is it from?
It's nice out here until the 15th according to the long range forecast.
It's a np435 4spd Morris, it was used by Dodge, Ford, some GM and international. For the most part, there's lots of parts available, but it would appear that this spring doesn't break very often and there's few available. Sometimes truck wreckers will part out transmissions that have a blown gear so the guy down the street might have one on the shelf.
If the top of your transmission looks like this it could be a 435
Not the best of pictures but the top is different from most transmissions. If it's from a F350 it may have the proper yoke or I may be able to change yokes, driveshaft as I have 3 drive shafts. Will look around the net tonight to see what my options are.

It's nice and sunny here and still very warm for this time of year. I'm enjoying it..
Great weather day, expensive Canadian Tire night.
Left side of truck looks like the right side, glad I have 2 sanders, makes this a lot faster than doing this by hand. Angle grinder with paint stripping disc sure helps
Beautiful day here. I was just looking at pictures of people combining and I sure am glad we are done. Can't believe how badly some of the equipment has been stuck.

Can't beat the speed of power tools.
Semi grain trucks have been have been going past my place since it warmed up Colin, hopefully the fields will be bare before this weather ends.
