My uncle lent a friend his brand new Mach Z back in early 2000's. Got a call later that night/really early the next morning to come pick up the sled. His buddy had been ripping down the trail flat out, hit a bump just before the lake edge and piled it headfirst into the pack ice that was build up on the shoreline. The machine looked like it had been squashed between two bulldozers, collapsed like an accordion. We measured the overall length of it and compared it to what the new specs were. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I think it was well over 2' shorter.
His buddy spent quite a bit of time in hospital as he took the full impact on his head when he landed after leaving the machine. Split his helmet in two. I think he had a few crushed vertebrae in his neck. Insurance denied covering the damages for two reasons. Firstly, Uncle wasn't driving it, secondly, his buddy was drunk. They worked something out and remained friends.
Be safe out there. Accidents happen sometimes regardless of how we try to avoid them. Best we don't assist accidents in happening.
Yup. I've had my share of bumps and bruises but have managed to limit it to just that. My accidents have never been, and I pray never will be, drug or alcohol related. Known too many people who are crippled, scarred, dead, or have scary stories to tell.
Its never a good idea to mix alcohol and vehicles. Some times you dont plan on it but after a few too many drinks and your thought process goes down the crapper, you do things that you really shouldn't. Glad your uncle's buddy survived though Sherm. On another driving note, I was watching that tv show Don't Drive Here last night while trying to stay awake and they were in New Delhi, India. All I can say is, I am never going there. They have NO traffic laws and no stop signs or stop lights. I was scared just watching the show lol.
I've watched that show a couple times. That guy takes some chances. Same guy as "Canada's worst driver". My wife has some family living in Laos. They've shown us pictures and video of the traffic in the cities over there. All I can say is I'm not going near the place without a tank. Nothing but a mess of pedestrians, cyclists, scooterists, three wheeled cars, and regular vehicles, throw in a cube truck every 3rd vehicle, no one uses lanes or lights... Its total Kamikazee!!!
I agree, even watch videos of people in Russia and Europe drive its rediculous. I know we have some dumb drivers here in Canada but I think we are one of the safest countries to drive in.
Happy Sunday everyone. Hope you can all have a nice restful day. By that I don't mean sitting on your asses doing squat, but doing whatever it is that puts your mind at ease. I plan to take my girls outside for some play in the snow time. Happy for this reasonable weather that will allow for it!!

Agreed!! The groomed part leading to it should of been an indication of what was to come. I should have slowed it abit but being a quad racer and seeing whoops for a 1/4 mile, 2' deep, I'm used to using the rev limiter to survive

Luckily your ok!! Generally we're all very good riders. When things happen they usually happen quick

I'd love to get old some day...lol
Well said Sherm. Personally, I choose "Zero" always!! I don't do anything else either. My high is the rush of the ride Been racing for over 10 years(tons of hours), and sledding for 4 now(11,000kms) with only 3 major crashed on the quad (practice and pit riding) and only 1 major one on the sled the other day. Didn't physically crash, cause I hung on but it was definately poor judgement on my part. I feel I, for the most part, don't cross that line of not being able to recover or put myself in a situation of loosing control with the hours of seat time I have on both machines. To sum it up, still hurtin, I'm a bit disapointed I didn't trust my gut and ease off abit instead I trusted the just groomed trail.
On a side note, I tried going for a ride last night for a bit. Figured If I could pull the kids around all day I'm ok for a liesurly ride. Well, I figured out liesurly isn't in my vocabulary...... Pretty sure a hernia is on the menu for this guy Daaaarnnnit.
Hope your boys have an outstanding Sunday!! Enjoy the day outside cause it's warm and beautiful out there!!
Very sad stuff, alcohol and anything don't mix.
We have a lake here called Scucog(spelling may be wrong)each year that lake takes at least 2-7 lives.
Never really cared for the machines, prefer to hook up the horse n sleigh with bells of course. With the equine machine you can't run out of gas, don't have to change the oil lol.
Hey falcon queen... Im on the fence about getting a couple Norwegian Fjiords for our acreage. While i enjoy sledding, riding live animals has always been very enjoyable. Im sure my little girls would really enjoy a sleigh ride with a team also.

They are cool horses but have a hard time with our wet springs and falls, their feet I'm refering to. Look into a team already trained, Appy's are native to our country n tough. Or think big horse power, go heavy horse( go thru deeper snow). Also I raise Appaloosa's .
