Usually they'll run at night SHerm but not overnight. I've seen them out as late as 10pm. Because 97% of my riding is by myself I won't venture too far off the trail system to play.
I've been out midnight riding and came across the groomer. Luckily I was riding my wife's Phazer one night, and SLOWLY came around the corner and met the groomer head on. Had I been on my RMK I would have been going too fast and collided with the groomer Just kidding...the trails were the only place I liked laying a beating on that Phazer... Unfortunately for it, we don't like trails much...
I do a lot of sledding alone, but I don't let it stop me from venturing into the wild blue yonder. I've gotten lost for 2-3hrs a time or two, get turned around in this damned prairie where everything looks the same. Its worst when s couple sleds happen to cross my tracks and jumble everything up...messes up my breadcrumbs. I've gotten stuck and spent a couple hours digging also... But, alas, I do not learn. As soon as I can, I'll be heading out for a ride, it'll likely be alone, and I'll likely return tired, sore, and wondering why I love it so much...
It's been a while since I've posted up in this thread. Been busy with work and family over the christmas break (6 Christmas dinners... talk about weight gain...).
Hope you've all had a great Christmas and New Years (even tho this post is late).
Just letting all you fellas know that I'm still here. I read your posts, just don't respond. I'm a ghost lately
Welcome back and Ditto on the belated holiday cheer

I'm hoping to feel that way tomorrow!! I have to be back for the school bus unfortunately but at least I'm finally getting out for a ride!! Been such a lack of it, 3-4 hours of it and I'll probably be tired, sore and wondering the same thing
Have a great evening boys!! Mumzie's home for a couple hours tonight before she heads back so I better get off the brainbox here

I'm not one for trails myself either, but I normally dont venture too far away by myself. We have wolves here, I have been lucky enough to not see one or a pack in person while on a ride but I have found tracks before and seen them in town and just outside town too.
Evening Randy, Sherm, Curtis, Colin, Aaron, Clint and anyone else I may have missed.. It looks like we are going to get some relief down this way for a few days..
Ah...-16c...walked outside in my briefs and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Please, Mother Nature, could we never see -30 again for 12 months or so?
Goooooooooood Morning everyone!!
-12 here. Windchill still high but I AIN'T COMPLAININ!!!!!!!!!
Could barely sleep last night thinking about getting out today. Used to puttin on 2500Kms/season and barely have 300 on allready.
Going to stop at the hospital, see wife and mum, then off to meet the wife's coworkers hubby who just bought a sled from WSL for xmas!! She's workin so I'm not sure if he's going to bring his new Apex or her Phazer.
Randy, that's a scary thought to be stuck or stranded with that amount of wolves around. A week after I saw you last, I had some seriously big paw prints around the shop one night. Went out for a wizz (no prints in fresh snow), back in for maybe 10 mins then I ran to the house with the kids when I noticed they came right to the door of the cave. Over to the eX, then carried on to the front of the house. You remember "Barker", well the prints were 3 times the size of his. 3-3 1/2" round easy. Scared me because I usually wonder over behind the wood sheds when duty calls and didn't that night. That's right where the prints came from so he must have been close when I went out. I've only seen them one more time since and almost print for print travel throught the yard. To the shop door, over to the eX and exiting yard through the front. Get goose bumps just thinkin about it.
Happy Thursday mornin'all. Finally some decent temps, -12, but very windy from the south, but it's supposed to calm down by lunch time. When we were actively involved in sledding we seen a great number of wolves. We've actually been within 10 ft of one while walking. I'll tell you they're quite scared of us. I was wearing my suit and helmet, and started walking towards it. It just sat down and watched me. I raised my arms and started to clap, it took a crap and ran off. I will admit I was scared. A marine biologist friend who works up north and deals with wolves was with us , and she said they will only attack a human when threatened or sick. When you have children around, I'd be very Leary too. Have a great day guy's.
Afternoon everyone, or morning for me because I'm working evenings this week.

That's pretty ballsy Grant. One on one, I'm not afraid of bears or wolves (we have both here) because they are just as scared of you as you are them. I'm more worried when wolves are in a pack, that's when they aren't scared and if they are hungry, you're lunch for them. The wolves that come into town normally are female and they try to lure dogs out in to the bush were their pack is waiting for their supper. Also last winter there was a guy here in Gillam that thought some dog was attacking his dog, he grabbed a shovel and ran over and smacked the other dog in the head with it. The other dog shook his head and looked up at him, that's when he realized it was not a dog but a wolf. The guy nearly crapped his pants but the wolf just ran away.

Curtis I've seen paw prints almost the size of my hands. Just outside my dads house is the train tracks and behind the tracks is all bush. A few years ago my dad was pulling up to the house and saw a wolf on the tracks, he said its back was about waist height and when he yelled and honked his horn at it, normally they run right away, this one looked at him then slowly walk off like everything was normal. The next morning I went to look for prints and they were damn near the size of my hands.
-30? That's like almost 0* in the real world right?
Heck that aint all that cold, When it gets below 0 here in the real
world than it's time to put a coat on over my T shirt. Than we can look forward to some snow.
Ya just got to be careful to not bump up against any thing metal while yer
reliving yer self. Ya may be there a while.
