Happy Saturday mornin'all. randy, 5 in the ditch meant cars, lol. We recieved close to 15cm of snow over a 24 hr period. I blew the driveway out this morning, but we can't get down our street. We've been here for 15yrs and the last two years (new Mayor) our services have sucked. I left a message at his home to let him know how the people on our street feel ( i did call a few neighbors) Curtis, Hang in there bud. We've been thru what you're going thru, and I know it's very trying. Have a great day guy's

Does anyone have any experience/opinions/knowledge about Ingersoll-Rand heavy equipment? I'm looking at a 1999 IGR Telehandler with 4800 hrs on it. Cummins power, looks really clean. I'm not familiar with them at all, don't know if they're comparable with Genie or JLG or something. I'm most familiar with the JCB/CAT units...
Hello Sherm
I have dealt will IR quit a bit, they make about 50-60% if all compactors on the market today. then paint them the company colours. all volvo compacters are IR
I do think the genie tele handlers are also IR. If you would like me to take a look at it, just message me we will go kick the tires!

Boy has it been a long time since i hung out for a while!
Work keeps me extremely busy, but this winter they closed the project by Martinsville down for the winter so that will make it a lot easier to catch up on equipment repairs and maintenance.

I even had time over the christmas break to dive into my powerstroke and fix it!
I took the whole top end apart and installed new seals and orings in the HPOP system, cleaned the turbo, speaking of that! when i did the EGR delete 4 years ago i could not believe how dirty the intake was, now the intake is still clean! just a little residue of oil!
also replace the IPR,ICP HPOP pump and installed new injector wiring harness
It was a big job, took me about 20-25 hrs to do but WOW did it LIGHT UP when it was done. There is two strips of black 100FT across the shop and out the door!

The most annoying thing was after the truck sitting out front of the shop for three months waiting for me to have the time and energy to work on it, someone tried to steal it the night before i towed it into the shop. F^%*.

Anywho I hope to have a little time this winter to chat and may the 2014 be awesome year for everyone!

Dean

Hey Dean, The unit I'm looking into is in Regina. Spoke with the owner yesterday, sounds like he's the second owner, and the machine is in very good condition. I'd enjoy having someone who is familiar with heavy equipment come look at it with me. Never hurts to have a second set of eyes/ears.

Doing some research last night tells me that SkyJack bought out the IR forklift and telehandler division but still manufacturers the VR series of Telehandlers in Guelph, Ontario. That makes me even more interested because parts should be easy to come by.

I've had lots of time in the seat of the JCB units, but being a European build machine, parts are costly and can be hard to come by. For that, I'm steering clear of them. I'd like to stick with something manufactured in North America.

That's what I get for not learning how to read Still more snow than we got.

Got my first taste of snowmobile carnage today Still drives fine, and doesn't look too bad but it was enough to put me over my windshield lol

Nice Brett, I hit a rock as well. I was in the powder out in the middle of the bush and made the mistake of looking for my buddy instead of watching where I was going.

Thanks Sherm!! Appreciate the kind words!!

What kind of construction do you do Curtis? I started out framing, switched to finishing, now a mixture of both, but I prefer framing. I like being outdoors. I've got one full time guy with me, 23 year old kid who is a really good guy, decent worker, and extremely honest. He takes instruction/reprimand well, never gives me attitude, and he's got morals and standards similar to my own. Not often you find younger guys like that nowadays.
I do interior/Exterior Renovations. Mainly Exterior soffit/fascia/Eaves, siding ect. Usually plan the bathroom/basement renos for the winter months. Believe it or not, I started off buying a Gravely ZT50 and wanted to do grass cutting/snow removal. Then once word got out I was doing exterior work it's been 3 crazy summers of workin my buns off. This is the 1st break i've had (2 months off) since I started doing this in 2010. I started posting pics on facebook of my house reno's and it ended up really taking off from there. Not on crackbook anymore, took up too much of my free time. C.D.S.C. is my business name. Stands for Curtis, Deanne, Serina and Cameron. I'm glad I bought that zero turn, I got so busy I didn't have time to cut my grass (3 acres of cut +). Takes me an hour and looks great when done!! With my other mower (husvarna) it was 2 3/4 hours to cut.

Thanks Grant. I tell ya, you guys on here are awesome!!

Was in city last night. CRAZYNESS. I saw 12 pieces of machinery at Tims on Main by your place when i came to the city. Say 9:15 I got in. I cruised around and ran into AT LEAST 15 plow trucks all in a row, ALL plowing mainstreet. Overlapping 6' of their 8-9' blades. I'll post a pic for ya. I'm in the middle of the huge group. I'm no rocket sceintist, but pretty sure 4 plows would do a very good job of the 3 lanes on main and the other 11 trucks could be doing other routes......
Your going to hate this part......When I came back up main and pulled into Tims for a HotChocolate at 10:30, all the equiptment was still there sitting in the same spot in the Shoppers parking lot. I was laughing to myself seeing the streets ALL not plowed (portage, downtown, north end, EK, then all the way down regent ect ect ect....I was cruisin clearin the mind lol) and the bill the mayor i'm sure will announce will be in the millions to clear this last storm. I personally know of 2 very big companies that contract with the city and it's a JOKE what they pay, and more of a joke what these companies get away with. Insulting when they brag and laugh about it but that's another story..........

Crummy deal boys. At least you kids got out My neighbor called this mrning to clear his driveway. He's ill so just couldn't get out there today. Did his (huge place), Did mine, sister in law called and asked If I could do her's (3km ride away ) Went and did that. Her son forgot he had 2x4 cut off's in the driveway. Broke the shear pins 3 times and called it quits
Drove it to the store 1km away, fueled it, bough some 6.9's and currently enjoying a few of those

Update on the Mom-in-Law. Couldn't believe it after Dee told me but she's up. Teeth are in, she's eating steady, talking clearly (just spoke to mum on the phone) Unreal how the human body works sometimes but we're super thankfull to get what we get. Outlook is still very grim as the aggresiveness of the disease and parts of the organs it's affecting but it's still amazing how this lady's fighting!!

Cool pics of your wrecks guys!!! Now you got me looking for pics of my early season last year... $2500 bucks later ($2000 for the insurance company ) I was in business again, only to melt the motor at 1/2 season Shucks, can't find pics. My wife says I don't usually document things that anger me lol. In any case, completely ripped the right side front suspension off my RMK when I tagged a rock. Ironic part of the story is I had just spend 3 hours swapping a new track on it... New upper and lower "A" arms, shock, spindle, ski, tie rod, and both side panels. Had a bruise on my thigh the size of a desert place from tagging the bars on the impromptu dismount. I thought the machine would be a total loss, but the bulkhead was still 100% solid. I guess there are "crumple zones"

What would the windchill amount to if it is currently at -50 and u drove into the wind at 50mph? Would it completely double?

Happy Sunday Mornin'all. Curtis, I saw the plow's out last night, and said WTF? Why is all this equipment out on one street? I can't complain, it aint my tax dollar's. We have our own problem's out here in West St Paul. They want to put a sewer system in, that will add $$$$$ to our taxes, and cost the home owner's approx $15,00.00 to convert our septic systems to sewer. We still ahve to retain our tank's, and still have the solid's pumped out. I understand the enviromental impact on septic system's. The problem is, a lot of people move out here from the city, and use water likethey're in the city. One nieghbor behind us used to have his field leech every weekend. He would have ton's of people over for parties on the weekends, they'd stay over, all have shower's in the morning, and over tax they're septic system. I'd be cutting grass and almost hurl going up to his property. I told him, and he said 'That's not my field leaking, it's the nieghbor's" Not 1 minute later his pump kicked in and it shot out of one of his old snow fence holes 4 inches, BUSTED, lol. Randy, did your helmet fill with snow when you flew over the handlebar's, mine did. Many year's back we were riding on an old loging trail, playing in the powder, and it hit a frozen bog pile with my 84 Phazer. No damage to the sled, but oneof my buddies said I flew 12 ft in the air and landed face first. More embarrasing than hurt. Well it's off to Sobey's for growlies. Dawn said I can take the Edge. I got to drive it yesterday to break trail down our street. I absoloutly love it. Have a great day guy's. stay safe and warm. Curtis, call me next time your in town, and drop over for a coffee or

We just went through all that here in town as well . We were happy to part with the $$. Neighbors poked holes in his 13 years ago and still hasn't hooked up when it came in 5 years ago. Not sure whats going to happen when they inspect his, but I haven't seen a truck there since we've lived here. His lid is totally grown over and only way i know it's there is the brick in the grass marking the spot. (cut their grass all the time for them.......) So knowing that's going straight into the ground we were more than happy!! We waited to years to hook as we saved money for the 2 payments to gov of 5g(saved us interest where price would have doubled if went on our taxes to 20G) and paid a contractor to put it in. We had to do tank (ours was cracked on top ((ole concrete one)) and everything else. We were, however, allowed to keep our well hooked up to the outside tap. I wanted to do myself to save money but the munic would allow me to. "Had to contract an approved installer" When your time comes, let me know. I'll give you Peters number. He's from Petersfield and is a very honest, knowledgable guy. No plastic fittings and top notch work. Followed through with the deal we made for a year later when yard settled. Our yard went down in history as the hardest install he's had to date. I live beside the Garson Quarry on the original acreage where it all started in the late 1800/early 1900's. Depending on the size of your lot 15G seems alot!!Mine was 15 with 200' of trenching they had to do, tank, pump, meter ect ect. We love the town water, we didn't like the fact that the monthly bill has DOUBLED over the last 2 year tho. Went from 80/3mo to 160/3mo for the same usage. Rates steadily increasing over the next 3 years as well. Buggers

Yes, next time in for abit i'll give ya a shout. Can you PM me your numbers again ( misplaced my paper I had them on)

Have a FANTASTIC DAY everyone

I think at that point, things stop being cold and just start burning. Like wind burn or when you touch cold metal and it burns you...

I wasn't going that fast, I landed on top of my hood. Didn't break anything else on my sled though

Curtis that is great news about your mother in-law! Me and my girlfriend are wishing her and your family the best. Once the weather gets that cold I think the laws of physics are reversed and you are not longer cold but burn from the cold lol. Also I wanted to mention, one more bonus of living in the middle of no where, 3 hours from civilization, is I don't pay for water .
