I dislike this time of year for its commercialism also. I've always said, "tis the season of disappointment". We don't go overboard with the presents or make a big deal of the "Santa Clause" pharse. I do enjoy (sometimes) the opportunity to take time to spend with family and relax.
I really dislike how The Source (formerly Radio Shack) has taken the slogan "I Want That" as the theme for their seasonal flyers. Really goes to show what the state of affairs is in the western world nowadays. Realistically there isn't one thing at that place, or many others nowadays that we really need, those are stores of excess. Unless you're buying batteries for your pace maker I guess...
Hope everyone is satisfied with what they've accomplished in the past year, I like Morris plan of reflection.

-25 most the day here with windchill warnings. It was just me and the cat at work today and it was quiet so I was able to finish up all my yearend jobs without interruption. The kids are at grandmas tonight and the wife is at work so it is even quieter here. Might be a good time to practice my banjo
