Crewcab Only Thread.
Thanks!
Jared
Running into an issue though that I need some help with. My wife is having a heck of a time getting in the truck, and today she had a skirt on and could not get in. Since she has been so supportive of this project I will need to install steps or nerf bars. I like the N-Fab style but cannot find a match to my truck. Anybody successfully installed nerf-bars on these crew cabs? Any details would be appreciated. And of course pics
Thanks in advance.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I got the rear gas tank all situated with new spacers for the lower straps and fuel filler neck tubing. My neighbor gave me a class 5 receiver hitch a while back and I installed it using Grade 8 bolts/nuts (grade 5 washers) and 1/4" thick steel blocks under the receiver hitch mount brackets.
Two of the bracket bolts lined up perfectly with stock holes in the frame in this location.
I am postponing the 5th wheel install until next year. I really only use the 5th wheel hitch once a year and I don't even own a trailer, I borrow one to move hay bales.
Looking good, if I do say so myself.
And I took it for a drive, the first time I haev had it more than 1 mile from my house since I bought it last August.
Something odd happened on my drive, I couldn't get the truck to go faster than 65mph, it was starving for fuel. This truck still has an electric fuel pump inline as well as the stock fuel pump that is bolted into the block.
When only on engine fuel pump, 65 max and if you try going over, I did lose speed until I slowed down and allowed the carb fuel bowl to refill. But if I switched on the electric fuel pump in addition to the stock engine fuel pump, I could run 65mph as long as I wanted.
This morning before I left home, I pulled the carb mounted fuel filter and it had rust chunks that came out of it.
I already picked up a new carb mounted filter and a clear 3/8" filter that I will install under the truck between the fuel switch valve and the electric fuel pump. Hopefully that will resolve my fuel starvation issue.
Now I can move on to building some bumpers.
8" tall 4" thick and 75" wide for the rear, and I'll use similar dimensions for the front bumper. Squared in the rear and I'll throw some taper in the front, 8" tall in the middle between the frame rails and taper to 4" at the outer edges.
With the brief driving I've done... Running boards or side steps are going to be on a short list to get done also.

Rear Fuel Tank Upgrade 19g to 38g
I bought mine through ebay for $105, but you can shop around for them everywhere.
Here is one from Amazon
Spectra Premium Fuel Tanks F26C $188.97
You do have to make some minor adjustments to a standard 19gallon fuel sending unit since there isn't any fuel sender unit readily available.
