I'm new to this and I'm trying to find some info. I'm a fan of the crew can but not a fan of the long bed. Was the 8' bed the only option for the crew cabs? Also, does anyone know where I can find specs for all the sixth gen Fseries trucks?

They were made with the 6.5 and 8 ft bed. The short bed are more common. The short bed was either a 2x4 or 4x4 as the longbed only came in 2x4 configuration. All trim levels were available for all.

The bed floor on a shortbed measures 6'11" even though they call it a 6.5' bed. I am hoping to find an off the shelf cap that will fit but am doubtful.
By cap do you mean tonneau cover or shell/campershell?
I believe the short beds on these are the same overall length & width as the beds up into the late 90's (96 for F150 & 97 for F250 & 350). Therefore finding something that fits shouldn't be too hard. Now finding something that looks "right", might be more difficult based on bedside & tailgate shape/contours. Plus what looks "right" is definitely in the eye of the beholder here! IE. the 70's ones (shells) guys love that I think were a dealer option for these trucks just look nasty to me. Many guys love um though.
yes i mean a shell....that would be great if the 6.5' beds on the 90's trucks are also 6'11". I haven't done any research yet...have some bigger items to do first. I am definately looking for a modern, sleek-looking cap with tinted glass and one piece side window. Anything else would look ridiculous to me.
I'm wanting to get a crew cab 4wd but I'm a little worried about it's size and ability to be a daily driver. I'm wondering if I should just go with a Bronco instead. QUOTE=77&79F250;15221658]Welcome to FTE.
The CC with a short bed was the more common bed....from what I have seen out there. I am sure some CC guru's will chime in with the answer.
I don't have a crew cab, but came across these rear doors on craigslist and thought I'd post em in case anyone is looking. There's some rust, but they look fairly clean and repairable.
