Wow, that 68 crew is too expensive for a 2wd. I only paid $1000 for my 70 CC Highboy with no rust in the cab mounts and the rain gutters. I paid $1800 for 76 CC Highboy with a LP front 60. They are cheap up here in Alaska. Everybody wants a Stupid Duty.
Anybody here in a need of a new royal blue carpet? Bought one a few months back. But since doing my 4x4 conversion i gotta switch the transmission hump from 3 inch to 5 inch... Let me know if y'all interested.
Hi I'm new to FTE and I'm 16yrs old, I restored a 1979 F250 Crewcab Shortbed 4x4 with a 400 motor, with my dad a few year ago (2009-2010), he bought the truck off of one of the guys on FTE who had pictures of the truck that the guy was selling on eBay, my dad won the eBay bid at around 13k, we did a frame-off restoration and the guy who owned the truck before us had painted it. The truck is very rare, it has the rear window defroster which was a factory option and only 13 crewcabs were made with this option. I just found a 1979 f350 crewcab 2wd longbed with a 460 motor on craigslist for $3,400 which going to be my first truck, with an included supercab parts truck. I also bought an f350 crewcab longbed frame from the guy for $100. I'm looking to do a full frame off restoration this summer once we get our new 5 bay shop finished and the concrete floor is put in. I didn't know if any of you guys know how long it would take to do a frame off restoration if I work on it for 8hours everyday. I want to make my truck a 4x4, but I don't know if I want to cut the frame and swap for a true 4x4 frame and use leaf springs up front or convert it to 4x4 by using coil springs and a front axle from a f150 4x4 and attaching traction bars, I also want to put a 4-6 inch lift on the truck and I don't know how each set up will work (leaf springs or coil springs) with this amount of lift (axle wrap). Any suggestions???
I'm that "guy". While the rear window defrost is a factory option it was not an option on this particular crewcab. I bought that window from a friend in NY and put it in myself.
Pretty sure it was no F-250's or 350's at all (gasser or diesel) in '98. They just had the HD F-150 which was the 7 lug truck. They did however keep selling whatever "OBS" (HATE that terms as if a 92-96 is "old" body style, then what is my '74???) trucks hadn't been sold from '97
