My tuner is at 5.03. If go back to stock flash (Oct 2003) and I get my early 2004 (2003 engine) flashed with the 3U7A-12A650-FTE flash (about one month old), will the tuner recognize the new flash when i try to put the HP tune back in?

Thanks
Call superchips customer service.
Remember, you can have the same firmware and still have a different database than another using 5.03
Shipped my 1704 back to Superchips on Monday for an update, called on Thursday to get an estimate. They told me it would ship back out that day. I then received an unprompted call this morning that they checked the status, and that it was out for delivery today. I had the new 5.03 program in by 1pm. So far, it feels great - I'll give it a little break in time to settle down with the Economy mode, but with just one drive, I can feel better off-line power - shifts very nice too. Bottom line, great Service is an awesome start to a good experience!

Ordered 1704 from Motorhaven today. After months of holding off I just couldn't wait. Do you think my wife will notice the next time she drives the truck?

Hmmmm....."Honey, I just put some new platinum plugs in it for you - you deserve the best"
Think it will work?
Good luck, so far with a week on mine, its running good. I did notice getting on it one time that the engine spooled up, but the tranny didn't want to downshift and go. Hasn't happened since.

Until she says.
"Honey, I looked on the internet and diesels don't have spark plugs."

Trans was learning the new acceleration rate. It's a quick learning curve.
does super chip recommend an exhaust system for the 04 f350. I 'm looking for something quiet like my stock system, but will exhaust those fumes when Im in SC 1704 ecomony or tow, pulling that trailer up hill in tennessee. I only pull about 5-6k.
however i want to install my new gauges (boost/egt) and choosing an exhaust first as the new exhaust should come with that egt hole.
I pull 10000 lb with my truck using the SCMT in the Tow Safe mode and have also tried it in the Economy tune while watching the gauges carefully.
I've not seen any EGT problems with my '03 F-250 with the totally stock exhaust system. The '03 supposedly has a more restrictive down pipe than later years.
My guess is that you could tow 5-6 klb with no problems with a stock exhaust.
You want to put the pyro probe preturbo if at all possible. Even if an aftermarket exhaust system comes with a bung for the probe I wouldn't bother with it and would go for the exhaust manifold and locate the probe there. That's what the majority of the guys have done.
I'd get the gauge package first, go preturbo, and then see if you think it is worth popping for the exhaust system.
don't I want to know the exhaust temp post turbo, leaving the truck? I have been told that I may experience temp problems with stock system due to sc making so much power and with making more power comes higher temps...or are you saying putting pyro pre turbo to monitor temp as it reenters turbo?
which do you think is more important,,with people saying my stock down pipe and exhause not being able to handle those temps has me thinking about a new exhaust. If I can keep my stock with gauges and sc then I am phat
Yes, put the pyro probe before the turbo because you really care more about how hot the exhaust temps were entering the turbo than leaving it. You will melt the turbo blades before you'll melt the exhaust pipes and that is what you really care about, the turbo not the exhaust pipes, cat, or muffler.
There is quite a bit of temperature drop through the turbo several hundred degrees depending upon how close to the turbo outlet the post turbo pyro probe is located. Also the temperature is slower to respond to changes in EGT when mounted post turbo.
Drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold is not a very difficult job, check out the stickies as they have some info on how to do the install. You can also do a search on pyro probe and find a number of threads on the install process.
I don't think that my truck is special in its abilities to tow a lot of weight without having high exhaust temps so I doubt that you'll see any problems while towing half that weight.
The SCMT does a great job of adding power without raising the EGT while towing.

You can tow up to Fords recommended max capacity on the stock exhaust and the Superchips tow program.
what you are saying makes total sense. I see what you pull and trust you have done your research.
so I will keep my stock exhaust and install my gauges but I would like to install the engine oil, boost, and 1 pyro (pre turbo).
is all the air that goes in turbo recycled? and you say the best place to install that pre turbo probe in the exhaust manifold? as I just want to install 1 pyro.
sorry about the questions the more people I talk to around here (my neighborhood)the more confused I get ,they all have semi different opinions, strong ones at that too.
