Well, I did and noted the tow and performance shifted much smoother. I absolutely love the performace mode though. Me being a moron hot rodded around for a couple days in that setting without guages or exhaust. Man can that truck move though! I haven't towed with my scmt yet. So I call them back and let them in on my findings. They gave me an RA# and told me there was a fix out. Sent the tuner back today and should recieve it next week sometime and will let you know how it works.

anyone know if the horsepower or torque will be affected with this update? or will it retain its current level with smoother shifting?

thanks

Funny I have called them twice about the same concerns and all they tell me is send them back the chip and they will reprogram it in about 3-4 weeks.

Sorry about that, they didnt specifically say that it would be back next week. I kind of assumed it would be, cant be that hard to reprogram it could it?

My SCMT smokes like a frieght train too...You said in another thread yours is enough to cover two cars, i would say mine is pretty much equal. I have both the EGR disconnected and the converter gone. Alot of chipped diesels smoke that bad, even some of the higher fueled 7.3's. It is not a problem unless it is enough fuel to damage the motor; NONE of these programmers or chips come anywhere close to that; assuming your not towing.

The thing here, when you type something that is not quiet true........many read it and take it to heart. Make sure what we type is correct with what is real.

Call them and find out if it can be done same day and out the next.

I see a very small amount of smoke only at WOT with my SCMT in Economy mode. I haven't tried it in performance mode yet. With this beast at WOT you don't have time to be looking behind you for very long!

As for the shifting, it is not a problem, just a preference some folks asked for and Vic at SC promised to change. Where else other than the FTE Forum can you get results like that! Thanks all!

Call SC and ask them.

I have a Predator and it smokes a lot at WOT in both the 65 HP and 100 HP modes. It smokes significantly in both modes with agressive throttle use (over 30% applied quickly)

It smokes NO MORE than NORMAL at low throttle, non agressive driving styles in all settings.

If yours is smoking a lot, ALL THE TIME, something is wrong with it.

On a side note, is there any limit to how many times you can program the trucks tune?

Thanks,

A little computer trivia for you, actually most flash memory chips do have a 'limit' in the number of times they can be flashed. I haven't checked for a while but a couple years ago the norm seemed to be around 10,000 times, I'm sure newer chips can be re-flashed more. I presume no one will ever have the need to re-flash their truck that many times - Hope not anyway else Ford really has a big problem:-)

Smile

I just loaded the SCMT performance file (I've been running the economy file). I can now produce a nice cloud of black smoke at WOT for a few seconds. Normal driving produces no noticable smoke. Tires will now produce a lot of white smoke![
