Actually very lucky the dealer is going the extra mile.
Because if there are metal particles left in the system, could trash a new compressor and ultimately the problem would not have been fixed. It will be interesting to see if just a compressor replacement in these trucks last long term.
Here's my problem. Ford is prioritizing new production over existing sales. Someone in Ford has made this decision. Typically, you may have two weeks to a month of parts ready at the factory. Simple math means that they have 15K to 30K parts in Kentucky, but won't allocate those to dealers to service existing customers.
January 2024: Ford produced 31K Super Dutys in Kentucky and 2.2K in Ohio.
February 2024: Pretty much the same. Total Super Duty production was 33K trucks.
Numbers were from Ford Authority Website.
Ford could resolve this within a few weeks if they would just release the parts...
nothing short of a natural disaster disrupts the assembly line - nothing
I feel like it is the exact same problem with the 2023's. Especially the 23's that were delivered at the beginning of 24 like mine. 5,000 miles and a blown AC compressor. we can combine the 24 and 23 threads.
So my 2024 F250 is still at the dealership no AC, so the dealer was very good and gave me a free rental from Ford so they gave me a F-150 which I've been driving around while I wait for my truck to get fixed awaiting compressor and thermal extension valve and low pressure hose. So far I put over 700 Mi on the F-150 loaner that they gave me and when they gave it to me the truck had seven miles on it so it was a brand new truck that they gave me to drive while my truck is being fixed. I'm very grateful that the dealership has done this for me and they've been very good to me. Anyway so where I was going with this today at over 700 miles on a brand new F-150 rental the AC is starting to go out on it. It was parked at church today, and when I got out I went to start it up and no AC, I put it in Max AC and it started to blow a little bit and it finally started blowing good but only in Max AC, I cycled the on-off switch several times and finally got it to kick back on but for how long I don't know so I will keep you updated but I think this one is about ready to go as well it's doing the same thing my 250 did and mine died around the 700 mile mark and this one is starting to flake out and it just turned over 700 miles. I'll have to go back for another rental because the rental they gave me it is doing the same thing if it completely dies. Very frustrating that they can't fix such a easy system that has been around forever it's not rocket scientist. Anyway still open still have my truck fixed sometime in the near future. I wish Ford would aggressively fix this problem.
Here's a kick in the nads... For the 2020 and later 7.3 owners with failed compressors that are on "who knows when" backorder, Ford makes an add on A/C compressor for the 7.3 crate engine, that is the compatible and functionally the same as the factory compressor. However, it can't be used as a warranty replacement, as it is a Ford Performance part. Summit Racing shows they have nine of them. You can buy them, but the service centers will charge you full price for installation and they won't have the factory warranty. It's beautiful... the compressor we 7.3 owners need and won't get for months, but can't use because it's a different part number, sold by Ford Performance... and it's in stock. Ford could authorize these for warranty use, but won't. Ford doesn't care. This AC problem is the main reason I am not ordering a 2024 Superduty. Just don't want the hassle and irritation of spending huge money on a truck and then have the AC go out afterwards. My F150 is working well including the AC. Prolly just sit tight with current truck and see how it all plays out. It really sucks for all the guys this happened to already.

Dealer was able to get my truck in, bad compressor as expected. Part is on back order with no date. Have some long trips planned pulling a fifth wheel, not sure if we want to drive with no ac. Sure, can put the windows down but when it rains its miserable.
I wonder if the compressors actually changed. Maybe it's the person at the factory putting too much or too little freon and oil in them. Maybe their gauges are inaccurate. Just a thought.

The irony of them can't get AC to function on new trucks after introducing so many driver's assist tech in the past several years is too much.

Same part number for the compressor since 2020 (6.7L model) - this is 100% a supply or assembly issue. There's either a change in the source part quality or something in the assembly plant when charging the system. I'm not an A/C guy but I know there are lubricants in the charge/system so perhaps something changed there? I'm leaning to supply chain as there are thousands and thousands of these trucks out there without issue.
Looking for a Non CDK dealership tomorrow to try to get it in. Not expecting much.
I had my truck at the dealership today. They said they can see that 200 units have been released from the manufacturer as of today 7/1. 38 compressors are shipping directly to dealers as "emergency parts" and the rest are going to regional distributors to be sent to dealerships. They were hopeful to get one in about 2 weeks.
Have dealerships been offering anything to you guys about covering rental costs? Do Ford Dealerships out there still offer loaner vehicles? I rented a truck myself, but curious how much Ford might be willing to help out on that end.
At this point, I would be willing to order a replacement AC Condenser, pay for it, and not if, but when it’s needed to be installed, Ford credits me back the money
