Spoiler

2024 F350 lariat 6.7 HO
Built March 2024
2500 miles AC went out

Dealer replaced the clutch, and it failed on them twice. They ordered a compressor. When they said it is on backorder, and no delivery date, I searched the Internet and found a dealer with one on the shelf. He said he ordered it in January and has been holding onto it. My dealer bought that compressor from that Ford dealer. They repaired it. So far so good. I'm keeping a thermometer in the vent, so I can see if the AC starts to go out again.

2024 F-350 King Ranch 6.7 HO
Build: 1/2024
Current Mileage: 2118

First A/C occurance started around 1000 miles. Only blows hot when outside ambient temps are over 80 and only when truck is hot. Occurs more frequently and severly when towing. Stops occurring once cooled down and idling in a shop or in the shade. Can idle for an hour and never occur.

Took into shop on October 30th where it spent 20 days and they were unable to replicate.

Went to pick up on 6/18 and AC failed as I was leaving dealership.

Turned around and took it back in where I was able to have the shop foreman do a ride along and we replicated it. Was hooked up to diagnostic equipment at the time the air blew hot, no codes or any indicator of what the problem was.

Still in shop where they can now move forward with further diagnostics given they've witnessed the issue first hand.

Currently awaiting official diagnosis with no ETA.

Confirmed that compressor is on backorder. Dealership has been good to work with, they quickly worked it in and are escalating the part request on their end. However, I called ford customer service and did not get any help or even any information. The answer was if the dealership said it was on backordered then there was nothing they could do and to talk with the dealership. Asked about expediting, looking up the part, time frame etc. It was clear they had no interest in looking anything up and while I was trying to explain the situation I was transferred to the customer survey...basically hung up on.

FYI, I just emailed Jim Farley, Ford CEO with the spreadsheet and forum link. Hopefully this will expedite resolution of trucks waiting for parts.

2023 F250 Bad Compressor

Don't know if you'll include my 2023, but here's the details.

2023 F250 4x4 Lariat 7.3
Purchased Nov 23
Build Date Aug 23
5K miles
AC used about 10 times, has had it since Jun 7

Dealer states bad compressor, none available but evelated to 'ermergency status'
Two more weeks and I'll be in lemon law status and Ford will have to repurchase

Don't see how Ford can keep sending units out of the factory but not be able to fix the sold ones
Looking for a replacement... been a Ford truck owner since 1990, but this might be it for me...

Update

Dealer states bad TXV valve. Back order date of July 5. I’ve got a feeling just the Expansion valve will not fix it , so I ask if they had or ordered a compressor in case. The answer was NO. I will attempt to contact Ford directly tomorrow.

I would print the spreadsheet and bring it to the dealership. Let them know every other truck with bad AC built in the same time frame had a bad compressor. Those that thought the TXV was at fault had to order a compressor after TXV was swapped and delayed final repair waiting for a back ordered compressor.

My dealership also thought initially it was the TXV and ordered both. The compressor came in and the TXV was back ordered so they just installed the compressor and it was fixed.

Same issue happened with mine. The TXV alone prob won’t fix the issue. They also ordered that first for me. Try and get ford corp to approve the compressor order and have the dealer get you on the list for one. With this much commotion idk how ford corp will decline.

After your compressor was replaced did you have any other issues with the AC?

Just FYI, Ford's entire computer system has been down for 2 days. Apparently software company that provides them with software was breached. What i was told anyway

Mine is going on 6-1/2 weeks and 600 miles since compressor was replaced and it's doing well so far.
