I would be careful deleting it, It's against Federal law. Dealers and shops won't work on them because if there caught it can cost them thousands of dollars in fines. I know of two companies that made delete kits and the were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ebay also got in trouble for selling kits.
Good luck
Yep, this has been discussed here a lot... I'm in one of the CARB states here in New York but there's tons of deleted trucks but now that I heard people can make complaints to the EPA on individual trucks, looks like no one is safe. And the coal rollers out there are not helping themselves or any responsible deleted truck owners either...
2019 6.7 question
To delet or not delete?
Pros? Cons?
Its my forever truck so not worried about resale
My area does not require testing
I bought a 17 with 155k and deleted, state I’m registered in doesn’t smog. I love it, one of the tubes I deleted off was completely full of thick soot. You can direct message me for info on brands and companies. Have had nothing but great stuff with them.
There are two types of "tuners" There are the handheld devices for DIY, and there are send them the ECM to tune type. The first type, if the ECM has to be replaced because the ECM can no longer connect to the tuner, as in FRIED, and gets replaced, its a 50/50 chance the tuner can extract the OEM tune off the ECM provided the numbers match to what the tuner is "locked" to, and you can upload the tuned version. If that doesn't work, the tune can be saved on your PC if it wasn't there in the first place (based on 5* tuning I did years ago, they email you a VIN specific tune you load int the SCT), then the device is sent to the company that made it and they unlock the tuner for a fee, then when you get it back, you start from scratch with the process.
As for the second one, well, you basically pull the ECM that was replaced and send it back. Either way the truck is DOA until the new tune can be installed, OR return it all back to stock.
As for those who think the EPA mandates on Diesel are BS, wait until you have breathing problems then stand around a deleted diesel. Within minutes you will wish you had an oxygen tank with you, or some means to stop from wheezing and coughing. Years ago diesel exhaust had no effect and I liked the smell. Today a whiff of the particulates from it and I am having a hard time breathing. Imagine a 5 YO with asthma standing waiting on the school bus as a deleted truck goes by spewing particulates, that poor kid will be suffering, unable to breath.
Do we like that the EPA mandates these things on our trucks? NO, but once one understands WHY and what the benefits are, it makes perfect sense. Yesterday I was doing some floor work in my barn with my B2410 and by the time I was done I felt like crap from the exhaust because its old school Diesel, and at idle runs cold, spewing particulates. When it is under load it burns hot and not a problem with particulates. My new L4060 runs clean and isn't an issue working around in the barn. It does make a difference.
New style tuners do everything over the cloud. Auto agent can stay plugged in under the dash and all your gauges are on your phone. You can monitor about 100 different things live. You have stock tunes available. No more old school SCT tuners or laptops or anything. Everything done on your phone.

I'm unable to dm, probably due to not enough posts or something. Either way, maybe you can message me with that info. 2018 F-250

Would you recommend having a 2nd dedicated cheap phone just to keep your tunes/gauges on? I could see where replacing your personal phone every 3-4 years may make it scary that the app/tunes transfer properly

no it’s completely sent over the cloud, doesn’t really have anything to do with your phone. You download the auto agent app that put the tunes on your truck but the actual tunes are sent to you over the cloud with your email

this.
however depending on what you originally buy, it can be nice to have the laptop handy. sometimes tunes are funky and need to be actually downloaded on the computer and then transferred to a handheld tuner, and then installed on the truck.

Only tunes I’ve seen that way are older style that you use a tuner for. I know of two companies that send them over the cloud and it’s all used through auto agent. I’m pretty sure handheld tuners are a thing of the past. Only thing I’ve used a laptop for on my 2017 is for forscan.
