I never finished HS, do have my GED. I work very hard for what I have.
as do I.
me and you are both middle class by all means but we have more than a lot of people. We have things we don’t need. We have enough to loan out nice vehicles to family members because we can get by with other nice vehicles we have.
it’s great and it stemmed from starting businesses (presumably that’s what you’ve done as well). It was a way we found to create value in the world and take care of our families.
we also both work directly with people who get a smaller part of that pie. People who struggle with things we might not.
and what I’m saying is that’s exactly like the situation we’re describing. Executives making big bucks and workers making much less.
so my question to you is how come you’re taking so much of the value you’ve created while complaining about another man doing the same thing?
Is it just because his pie is that much bigger than yours? Why are you deciding for him to give money away when you’re not doing it yourself???
funny how when it’s yours to lose you want to hold onto it but you’re real quick to give someone else’s away

So do some very hard working Mexican folks who can do the same job for 1/10-1/6 the pay. That's your competition, if not now, soon.
Last I checked the leader who pushed through NAFTA is still wildly popular in America.
If you want to consider how badly it can go, never mind Mexico, consider this. Ford already tried this with the Transit Connect from Turkey and the Ecosport from India.
When it arrives later this year, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus will be the brand’s first vehicle imported from China to sell in North America. First spotted by CNBC and confirmed to The Drive by a Lincoln spokesperson, the news has already garnered some criticism online from commenters and will likely be a sticking point for union negotiations for the automaker in the coming months.
Importing a model assembled in China to sell in North America isn’t new, but relatively rare. The Buick Envision is assembled in China and sold in the U.S., and for a short time certain versions of the Cadillac XT6 and Volvo S60 were assembled in China and sold overseas. Ford said the move to outsource Nautilus production from Ontario, Canada, to China was to retool the factory for the brand’s upcoming EVs. Lincoln already assembled the Nautilus in its Changhan Hangzhou plant for sale in that market, although now it will export that model to North America as well.

Do you realize they can't even get enough immigrants to do jobs as it is, look at the problem in Arizona and manufacturing chips.
Flip side, if Mexico starts getting better jobs. Perhaps we wouldn't have so many crossers?
You know how many Americans have moved to Central America and so forth?
Do you realize we have people fleeing states because of taxes and regulations, we also have Americans leaving for other countries, this is the world we live in.
I support the unions, yes, they are asking for to much, and 77% of Americans favorite the strike, that doesn't help.
I grew up in a union family, aunt's uncle's, cousins, father, etc. Perhaps it's my heritage growing up Irish on the south side of Chicago. These people instilled some ethics in me, I work Union for 5 years until I screwed it up because I was young and dumb and full of.....
I've had more shadows follow me and try and do my job in the 30 plus years in the industry I'm in, maybe I'm the unicorn because nobody can do what I do.
The back story is I work for a fortune 300 company, I handle logistics, emergency responses, fleet management, and problem for our franchisees.
Let's talk about labor, The current labor market we're in is absolutely lousy, nobody I mean nobody wants to work.
The big 3 know this, if they didn't, there would be a lockout by now.

The real question is , WHY people don't want to work...??? Could it be that people see the widening gap between workers & "management"...??? Could it be that people can't afford/don't want to afford living at that certain wage...??? or Maybe this generation is just lazier and still living at home...???

Economists, sociologists, psychologists, union activists, and any number of -ists can study and debate until the cows come home, none of that matters when there are workers in Mexico and China eager to work for the wages they are paid at respective local prevailing rates, and car companies can import the cars made in those places to the US with little to no tariff, and the consumers keep buying.

That's one hell of a good question, It used to hire 5, keep 1
Now it's like 25 apply, 20 return your call, 15 are willing come in for a interview, 10 are *******, the other 5 we're bored so they took a flight for an interview.

Exactly... What IS going to "matter", is when a certain % of "Good" paying jobs disappear/are moved to other cheaper countries, people will just stop buying these goods because they "just can't afford" them... We are almost there... IMO

There is always debt purchasing.
Many people buying new cars theoretically can't, but they keep rolling their debt into bigger snow *****.

We have been there for the last 10+ years as far as I can see.. The next step is stop buying or bankruptcy... It sure isn't going to be working for less... (I'm pretty sure).
Most people who succeed in getting more do something to improve their situation thru training or education, or both. These other people are "vilified" because they are not doing anything to better themselves. Did they offer a increase in production or improved quality control? No, They are offering the same service at the same speed as before and demanding they be paid more for it.
In 10 years when all the Ford trucks are being built in Mexico the strikers will have to contend with the massive loss of jobs to the USA economy.
Crazy solution. Forget about trying to make simple manufacturing work. If they want it, let them have it. This is like Walmart coming into town. I can try to go toe to toe with them for do something they cannot yet. Get a skill or get shoved out and wonder why. It's going to happen so use the time wisely.
