Grew up in a family full of unionized workers. Not one of them has a good thing to say about the union. My father also runs his own heavy equipment repair business and I've seen how hard this is making life for him. Finally, I live close to the Ford Super Duty plant and things around here have been not so good. I worked a union job for two weeks once. When I saw what I was giving and what I'd potentially get, I walked.
After all that, no experience level is required for someone to see how many Americans are screwed by unions. One college economics course will suffice.
They are saying that over 8,000 Ford employees have walked off the job at our truck plant. Super Duty production is screwed. This continues to get worse and the middle class is taking the worst of it.

these union members that everyone keeps trashing are middle class, they are fighting to remain middle class.
thing is ky is right to work state, not a union state. If the uaw body was removed and workers were paid the remainder of what the uaw gobble up they would be ahead a lot. The uaw is making a mistake right now. Too much at the worst time.
When my wife had to join the union since it was a closed shop, not sure if that is the term. We did have to pay dues and every year, we could make an annual request for the political fundraising portion of the money back. Not sure why we had to do that every year but she didn't stay that long. Sucks that the contract requires we give a couple months notice. Would be nicer if we could come and go as I can do at any other job. Of course, for professional reasons we would never just walk in and say "I quit"
I’d they aren’t happy with the wages or benefits, then they need to find another job…not force their employer to bow to them.
I wasn't goin to be "on here" again... But I actually agree with this statement... I am more "union" than most, but, when my union went on strike I just went and got another job, Non-union, making the same union wages, same "BENEFITS" ON MY OWN, Never walked a picket line... I just said, "next" and became my own "union".. "If", a boss/company didn't treat me as a valued worker... NEXT... It really is amazing how it all seemed to work out for me bucking the system, for 50 + years for me...

Well, that means you got "paid" for your job as union boss by keeping the annual fees deducted from your paycheck. Kinda like me selling a car and getting more money. I worked for it. I keep it. As far as the boss/company goes, as long as they are the best thing you can get, I expect you to stay. Should someone offer you more, be it money or benefits or work conditions, I expect you to move. As I said before, you didn't agree to tie yourself to them till you die or retire.

Yea, But most people aren't as "independent" as some of "us"... Thus, unions take the place of independent thoughts & actions of people who can't stand up for themselves... Safety in the herd mentality.
Ford should just focus on the commercial, industrial industry.
Funny you should mention that, because Ford's commercial / industrial truck plant, in Ohio, is more dependent on UAW labor than KTP, which has more automation.
And Ford's F-150 plants are more automated than KTP.
The lower volume F-650 / F-750, E-350 / E-450, and F-450 / F-550 / F-600 chassis cabs built in Ohio require more human involvement and interaction in some manufacturing steps that have been turned over to robots or machine assisted jobs at more advanced plants.
And the more advance tooled plants are always the higher volume, lighter duty platforms.
So you just gotta ask yourself.
If the unions are so great and the current administration claims to back them.
Then why is the government not allowed to be union?
You have grown men running around chasing ***** making $35.000.000 a year.
You have military members working to defend this country, and struggling to get by.
Military members coming home missing body parts and having to fight for their benefits, while the government wants to reduce them.
Now how about we unionize the worlds finest military, and watch them go on stricke for better living and benefits.
