could be, but let’s hope not. Let them chew through their strike money and then sweat.
UAW strike funds cant support a long term full walk out. GM at least looks like it is willing to play hard ball. Ford already settled with Canadian unions but the UAW said it wasnt enough for them. some of the demands are crazy to me. im surprised they didnt strike at the Kentucky plant first cause that is Fords money maker.
Just fyi, uaw shut down the truck plant, but not the lap that makes cars right next to it. It’s clearly a tactic to try and hurt ford the most without chewing through too much strike money. Problem is they had to shutdown satellite shops that supply stuff and when inventory runs out they will have to shut lap down, ford that is. Uaw would be fine with people showing up on fords dime with nothing to do instead of getting strike money. If ford shuts down I assume they pull from unemployment. Sleezy mob tactics.
If Ford lays off more due to the strikes interrupting supply chains, they don’t pay unemployment benefits from what I understand. Those workers have to draw from the strike fund. I sense a huge layoff soon.
Mr CEO guy says the same thing. Why do people make demands that seem crazy? Maybe there is more to the story. Strikes like these are really invoked with group psychology and pressure.
Maybe it is like asking rediculous money and they have another agenda that they'll "settle" for? Your kid asks you for a pony and begs and begs. You finally give them a bike, which is what they wanted all along?
these union members that everyone keeps trashing are middle class, they are fighting to remain middle class.
If working 32 hours instead of 40, getting a 46% raise, getting 5 weeks vacation, guarantee of a six-figure salary by year 4, and an improved retirement plan is "middle class", then please sign me up.
Truth is, the union is being ridiculous and they are screwing the true middle class who relies on these trucks to work every day, who run small businesses who need parts to repair these trucks, and who will be affected by even more price increases now going forward.
So says the honest person. But then there is that shop that doesn't really want the job so they quote an unbelievably high price. Who the heck knows what's really going on in there, could be anything.
IF you agree with the rediculous price, I win. If you don't, I have more lucrative jobs. I win either way.

why not make them and see if the auto makers cave? i think the UAW is also worried about its membership numbers with the huge push to EV and are trying to get everything they can now. ive seen it reported its 30-40% less labor needed for EVs.
All those GM trucks still rolling off the line in Mexico probably has Ford thinking of the future. They moved jobs back to the US and battled through some tough times working in partnership with the UAW, and this is what they have to show for it. Sad for both sides.

Whats a real kicker is when you take the world as a whole the U.S. minimum wage full time worker is in the highest income bracket by thousands of dollars. I dont blame any company in a capitalistic environment for outsourcing the primitive labor jobs that can be done by anyone with an IQ over 80.

Good point. Last time I researched it 32k/yr puts a person in the top 1% income on a world wide scale.
I’d they aren’t happy with the wages or benefits, then they need to find another job…not force their employer to bow to them.
I’m shocked all the high paying local windmill & solar panel factories aren’t snapping up this high skilled labor force. Oh wait… that tax payer infrastructure money hasn’t trickled down yet.

Union = evil.
I swear, if they get this, I am going to seriously consider moving and getting a job there. A lot higher pay and more benefits than I get now, for easier work. Only a 6-hr move for me
