Thank you guys. The wiring harness looked really bad when I pulled it. The black tape that was used had come unstuck and was dangling and hanging off everywhere so while I had it off I thought what the heck.....I have already installed the HPOP oil reservoir with new gasket and screen and was about to install the fuel bowl but realized it had been about 10 years since I had put new o-rrings in the drain so I ordered a fuel bowl rebuild kit from DieselOrings.com yesterday. Another delay but might as well do it now RIGHT????? I wil post more pics soon. OH and SSJ I used High Tack gasket sealant on the oil cooler and it worked great.
Do I need to keep that black thing that's hanging off the spider?
Looks like you plugged the red line nipple in the spider. So the solenoid is no longer needed. I’m not sure if it will throw a soft code but I haven’t had mine for years and I don’t have an active SES on.
If you want to get rid of that Wastegate Control Solenoid and not risk codes, you can replace it with a 470 Ohm 1W metal film resistor. Just make sure you seal it to the connector really well to prevent moisture instrusion.
