I don't remember where I got the gaskets because I have ordered every single part on the NET because of where I live.....But this time I know I ordered them from RiffRaff Diesel!! I will install them today. I am cconfused because the first time I installed the cooler I used Permatex High Tack Gasket Sealant on one side of the gasket to hold the gasket in place while I installed it and it leaked. I removed it and put the sealant on both sides of the gasket and still a leak?????
I HATE PERMATEX. Use on any sort of rubber o-ring style gasket, even if it's square, a thin coating of plumber's faucet lube or silicone grease. All you need is enough to make it slick and give it the ability to "squirm around" in the valley and adapt to the heating and cooling of the parts that are mated together and seal it all up. Petroleum based grease has the potential of swelling an o-ring designed to work in an aqueous environment such as a cooling system due to the materials that it is made of. Using this method I've NEVER had a coupling leak for a very long time, if ever.
!!!!!!!SUCCESS!!!!!!! I got the oil cooler put back on with the new Ford OEM gaskets and no leaks. Started her up and after about 5 minutes in stock mode she is running pretty smooth. I have to put the right fender liner back in tomorrow and take her for a drive but I think she is pretty good. I want to thank all of you guys that helped me through this fiupgrade) I will keep you posted on the results of the build. Thanks again!!!!!!!
Happy to report the drivers side charge pipe was on and in the correct spot but I routed it on top of the power steering pump instead of below the ps pump. Thanks to SSJ in one of his post he had a picture that I could refer back to so that I could route it correctly. I will post a pic tomorrow of the corrected routing. Thank you for pointing that out to me!!!!!!
I haven't taken her out yet for a test drive. I was putting the fender liner back in yesterday and whille I had the wheel off I looked down at the brake pads and realized it was time for a new set. Of course like everything else on her I had a hard time getting the drivers side wheel off. When I did the caliper slider rod was frozen up so after about an hour of beating and trying to get it out we(my son and I) got the torch out and heated it until it gave up. We went to Advance Auto and got the pads but of course they didn't have the rods or the rubber dust covers so I have to go to a different city to pick them up today. I will let ya'll know how she runs soon, I HOPE!!!!! And the charge pipe looks alot better in it's 'possed to be position. It did look ridiculous where it was before

I am actually beginning to wonder if having the hot CAC pipe go over the PS pump is the superior way to route it. It avoids rubbing the PS pump's output hose fitting.
