I checked the fuel filter last night and it looked ok (only 6k miles old), so I’m leaning towards bad fuel pump or bad regulator, both of which are only like 25k miles and 1 year old. I could only get the compression tester to thread into cylinder 1, which made 380psi, so maybe tomorrow I’ll get the rest of them done. Sucks when I’m getting home at like 7pm and the garage is freezing cold because i have to open the door to warm the truck up while it’s snowing outside. But the bright side is, for the first time in my life, I actually get to work on my truck in a garage

Thumbs up

May want to run some basic IDM tests to the injectors and where the harness breaks in between. Seeing as how most of these trucks have 250,000 miles or greater, the harness can crack internally and cause shorts or open circuits. Could be weak connection at the valve cover gasket, if so Alliant makes a kit to repair these without all the soldering business.

I have seen new harnesses for about $450 or so only on Riffraff's site. Really not bad for a new harness.

I really like the fender flares! I saw one pic with and 1 without, so I'm hoping you know which ones you may be using? Or where you got them?

I've been debating getting a new harness. To me it seems like it would be worth it to know my wiring isn't 27 years and 250,000 miles old

Sadly I do not know what brand they were. I personally am not a fan of fender flares, so I removed them. They were installed by the previous owner. There were no markings on them at all, I also was wondering who made them

I love 'em, they really look good on your truck. Looking to put some on mine, but mostly because I don't want to repair the bed rust forming on the fender wells. I would like to spray them down so they don't get worse then cover 'em up with those! Any chance you want to sell the ones you had on the truck since you took them off - That is if you still have them and they are in good shape?

You could easily copy the profile of them with today's technology.

Consider it in the event others want to buy them. $$$ for you.

Working in a garage is always nice.

You should be able to tell if the fuel pumps not working pretty easily. The regulator may have backed off if the jamb nut is missing due to vibrations. Worth checking.

This is solid input. I know of two guys now who put a new harness in their OBS trucks and reported how much better they ran and idled. It is definitely a must, IMO.

Well, I tossed the new pump in this morning and I have fuel pressure again. One of the new UVCHs I got in the mail was messed up, so I have another on the way. Had to pull the radiator to get my PS pump back on, so I ordered a diesel site water pump with the filter housing on it. Also ordered a new engine harness from riffraff because mine is in terrible shape. Got the compression test done today, all cylinders are within 5psi of each other. So I’m happy. With any luck in terms of parts and shipping, I’ll get the valve springs, pushrods, water pump, and harness in next weekend and be back on the road

Awesome. I ised that water pump too. I'd definitely try to order a viton oring for the valve. The stock one leaks a bit. Comments online say the new oring fixes it. I didn't and occasionally I'll have a drip

Unfortunately I couldn’t find the right replacement o ring in time for this weekend, so I’ll deal with a drip or two from time to time

Had a very productive weekend, but didn’t quite get as far as I wanted. Last weekend was the new PS pump and this weekend I got the new water pump and plastic fan in as well as the new engine harness. Got all 8 injectors out and new o rings on them, passenger side cylinders have new valve springs and seals installed. Unfortunately I’m on a pretty tight time frame for needing my truck again. So I am doing as some others have and throwing a .030 shim under every spring. If I had more time, I’d measure them all, but I need the truck running next weekend, and it seems others have had luck with this strategy. Hopefully in the next couple days I’ll have the valve covers back on, and then I need to decide if I am going to attempt to reseal my intake plenums. Unfortunately RiffRaff plenums are still out of stock, so I can’t get them, but I’m worried that I won’t be able to remove the stock plenums without damaging them. With a roughly 2,400mi trip coming up that I’m expecting gross combined weight to be about 20-21k it would be really nice to not have a boost leak any more. Just not sure if it’s worth the risk

Curious what you mean by damage? Are they rusty? Or just bending them or something?

when I spoke with him, he was expecting to have them this past Friday. So when that email came out I got really excited, but it was just an announcement email about the 3rd generation of the plenums
