Got the injectors in, harnesses all plumbed and plugged, changed the oil and filter, filled coolant, cranked until the battery gave up, hooked jumper cables to the Tacoma, cranked, cranked, cranked some more, hooked another set of jumper cables to a 4Runner, cranked, cranked, cranked, and she finally fired up! I let it idle for about 30 minutes to clear up some of the air in the HPO system and get everything running smooth. Couldn’t be happier. I have never done valve springs before, so I was super nervous all night until it fired up. Thanks to everyone for the advice, and @Khan for answering a bunch of questions I fired your way this last week. To top off the great evening, I received shipping confirmation that my plenums will be here Friday or Saturday. Tomorrow night I’ll probably put the valve covers and everything back together, then pull the turbo and plenums to get read to slap the new ones in. Can’t wait to have this ol girl running better than ever for a nice long trip
Well, those of you waiting on the ZF6 swap, it’s time to get excited
Got the truck thrown back together just in time for my trip. Ran better than ever, hauled out to California and back without skipping a beat. Over the mountain passes at 65mph without breaking 1200egt. Averaged 12mpg which isn’t bad considering my average speed the entire trip was probably 75mph. However. This morning, I hopped in the truck to go to work, and my E4OD decided it is done using OD. So the remainder of the zf6 rebuild and swap parts are ordered. The only thing I still need to find is a transmission tunnel hump from a zf5 truck
At least the trans still goes into gear and you can put around town with it while you finish up the ZF6. I'll be eagerly awaiting photos of the install
I look forward to the ZF6 swap. Sucks to gear when something stops working, but at least you have a plan.
Is the hump sized differently or do you just need a manual hump?
Just need the manual hump. I could just cut and drill the auto one, but it would be cleaner to do the manual hump

I'll be driving the tacoma for the most part until its done since the speed limits around me are all 55+mph
Well the ZF6 parts are trickling in, and I finally found a set of 35x12.50r17 tires that I’ve been looking for, so I’m excited! However, I am struggling to find some info, so I’m hoping some of you run tires that size. I am fine with bumper/fender modifications to make the tires fit, what I don’t want to run into is improper backspacing causing the tires to rub the leaf springs. I’m running 16s right now, so I’ll be buying some 17s, and am trying to find the right backspacing (or offset if you know the width) to keep the tire off of the spring before I order new wheels. Every thread I’ve been able to find talks about lifting the truck more (which won’t help) or adding a spacer to the steering stops (which I refuse to do because I need as much help as I can get turning this land yacht). So let me know if any of you have some insight!
I'm no help because I have a dually. Your truck probably turns on a dime compared to mine
You know, if you just did a 05+ coil conversion you wouldn't have any leaf springs to rub on....
lol trust me, it’s in the LONG term plan. I’d love to throw some newer axles under it for the turning radius, ride quality, and brakes. However, that probably won’t get to happen for a few years. Hoping to tear down the Tacoma next winter for roll cage/back half/custom front end which will put it damn near race ready. And the ford axle swap will have to come after that and the acquisition of a decent 1/2-3/4 ton gasser daily. I’m crossing my fingers that this is the last time it’s down for an extended time until then haha
Another question for you guys. Do any of you know if there is a way to identify if my Full Force injectors are 180cc or 160cc? I know they are 0% over and are "stage 1" but don't know what cc. I am trying to order the new tunes for the ZF6 swap and feel like its important to know haha
They should be physically marked or engraved on the injectors itself. Thays how my Rosewood injectors are.
Wish this was the case, looked for that before I put them back in haha.

Good catch. Just looked and they only sell 160/0 NEW injectors. Based on the receipt, the PO must have bought remans, so they are 180/0.
another question if any of you have ever swapped an auto to a manual, I know I’ll throw a code until I get new tunes for a MT, but will the truck still run on tunes for an auto? Hoping to deal with tunes after the fact haha
