I know, you think she would be willing to take one for the team. I mention that maybe I should find a sugar momma and she just laughs and says "Good luck with that."

Work started today. It took quite a while to measure locations for anchor bolts. Once the measuring was done, we started drilling out the holes for anchor bolts.
We put up the front to main columns then started working on the back two. Drilled and anchored one on the back and then started on the second. That is when I noticed a problem. He forgot the offset into the building.
So they had to cut off the anchor bolts for the one column and redrill holes. fortunately I caught it when I did and we only lost 4 anchor bolts.
Then as we were putting up the back columns I noticed another error. There is X bracing on the back wall. So the back columns have to have holes for the bracing rods to attach to. Well, they were in the front. So we had to move the front columns to the back and the back to the front. Pretty quick fix.

Notice the hole toward the top of the column

Tomorrow if the rain doesn't really slow us down we should get a bunch of the steel up.

All sounds very typical. Nice catch on the issues, though. Keep up the good work. This is the exciting part. :-x22

There are always minor challenges in a job like this. My pad is actually 39'11" instead of 40'. This forced us to make an inch modification as to where the columns go. Which in turn forced us to do some drilling of purlins and girts.
Also one of the columns was engineered wrong the brackets were on the wrong sides so we had to flip it 180 degrees and cut half an inch off the base plate for it to work. Minor modification, but it slowed us down a bit. Of course having to drill a bunch of holes slowed things down as well.

It rained on us from 7:30 to 10:30. No lightning and not a downpour so we worked. The forecast said the rain would break at noon, so we shut things down for a break and to get dry clothes on. Of course the rain stopped 15 minutes after we took the break. We got started back up at noon and the forecast called for ran around 5:00. fortunately that held off. We got all the columns in, girts, purlins, and most of the X bracing done and started on the base angle. Back row of base angle was easy, all three other sides will need notching for all the columns, so it will take a bit.
This morning will be finishing the base angle, putting up eave struts, and the last two X bracing. These two require drilling through girts for the rods to go, to they will take a little longer. We hope to get that done by noon. Then the afternoon will be trim and front walls. I'm a bit sore this morning. It will be a long day and long week as we will work in the evenings and hope to get the job done sometime this week.

Another thing. Notice the gap between the top of the door frame and the girt. The only thing holding the top of the frame to the building is some pan head screws. We aren't fond of this. So we are thinking of stacking a couple of 2X6 boards to fill the gap and brace the frame to the girt. We will discuss this more when they arrive this morning.

Today, I'm staying out of their way more. There is not too much for me to do. It's nicer weather, slim chances for rain.

Looking good Joe! Any steel building I've worked on has needed wood framing here and there to reinforce things like doors/windows.
