Another full day today. I didn't have as much that I could help with today, so I let them alone and didn't bother them as much. I helped where I could.
We were putting up X bracing and one of the rods was threaded wrong. Someone at the factory put the wrong die on the threader so it was a size smaller. A quick trip to the hardware store got me the proper nut, but a little setback. The guy at the factory had to have seen his mistake and didn't want to get in trouble so he just sent it on.
They started putting up the back wall and was almost done when they realized that they forgot the base trim. They were able to get the trim in without completely removing the panels.
I can't imagine how excited you must be right now! The coming winter snow and ice will not be an issue this year for sure. Thanks for sharing the pics, I think that we all share your excitement...
Once I have this up, I think I will have a lot more friends. We had several neighbors come by and ask questions. I got several thumbs up from people driving by.
I'm in an extremely low traffic area. My road is just a a circle so, the only people that come up here are going to a house on the road.
One guy walking his dog stopped and we talked about my truck and he said he has a Delorean and one other classic car. He said he wished he had a shop like this.
I got bids on garage doors, then the wife stepped in. She wants them to look nice (there goes my budget again) So, we are going to the main garage door company in town to look at options tomorrow.
From the looks of your pics you live in a very nice neighborhood, I can see why the wife would want your shop to look a bit more classy. The builder of the shop that I just rented took it bit farther with brick facing...you may not want to show this pic to your wife...

Oh, she has already talked about at least a wainscot. Pretty lights on the outside, I've been told are a requirement, not an option. I might be working until I'm 80, but I will have a cool shop.

My crew has other full time jobs. So, they really want to get this done quickly. One just returned from deployment in Poland and he has been off for a month. Today is his first day back at his job. It's going to be a long week for him, but he is only 22 so he will recover.
We got the open end wall done last night and have the end wall with the door. The trim work slowed us a bit.
I was on the drill putting screws in wall panels and we worked past dark, so I didn't get pictures. I will get that done this afternoon.
Today, the plan is to get the roof panels on the roof. Since my foreman will be gone this weekend, it won't get done this week. So we want to get all the scissor lift work done before I have to return it.
We (that's the royal we there) will install the garage trim as well. Trim takes time, so that will probably be the extent of the day.
I just got a call from Gwen. She is looking at faux brick panels and lights. Dang, I'm still worried about garage doors, electric, and insulation. We might need to have a talk about priorities.
When I was planning my shop build I had the wife in the discussion from the start...there was always a section set aside for her "studio" and of course a bathroom.

When I did my shop addition my wife's only demand was good looking doors. As a result they cost a lot more than I would have spent. I now admit it was a good idea - the project just takes longer to pay for it.
You'll be glad you followed her advice - trust me
