I was pondering lights like that, more so like the smaller image in the bottom right. I have a couple of those here and they do provide lots of light.
Not sure if they will work well 12-15 feet up. Although my father in laws shop had 4 light bulbs.
I've walked by those a few times. But I'm afraid they won't provide enough light. They will be 10-12 feet in the air.
Here is the progress from yesterday. Back half of the roof up and front wall. I'm hoping they will finish up today. We will see how things go.
Electric will come shortly, maybe today? I need to figure out what type of bracing I will need for the outside lights. I'm thinking the style we discussed over the middle of each garage door, plus the open section, so I can light the barn quilt and one over the door.
It's hard to beat continuous row lighting. Less shadows and easier on your eyes compared to bright smaller light sources. Many ways to go with LED. These are T8 with ballasts, but can be changed to LED. Also can rewire and use 4' 120 volt lamps that don't use a ballast. Pay attention to lamp color before buying. Notice rows are above walkways not above vehicle. I also switched lights above raised doors seperate, don't always need them on, specially when door is up. Good Luck
They are similar to what Abe posted from harbor freight. They are 8 feet long and offer 9000 lumens per light. If I used all the pack of 10, that would give me 90,000 lumens for the shop. they seem very easy to install although it sounds like the mounting hardware sucks. I would need to figure something else out for mounting.
Shop is now "done". My crew is finished with their work. I put tarps over the garage doors to block weather and hide contents a bit.
Gutter guy will come by Friday or Saturday to give an estimate. Insulation will be mid to late November and I'm guessing garage doors will be in the first part of December.
Electric box is in, so I need to start planning out wiring. Lights will be first then outlets. I have one outlet right by the box now. I will need to get 2X4's to make a frame for outlet boxes and then plywood and pegboard after that. Not sure how wide I will put studs.
Congrats, Joe! Big work is done but a lot more to do, but you got this!
It's a good feeling to get this part done. Now there will be a lot of waiting for insulation and doors.

I would guess the front façade will come later. That is pretty low on my list at this moment. Not sure where it is on Gwen's list. Cute outdoor lights are her focus now.
You are welcome anytime.
I now have some lights. I got 4 of the 10 lights wired up. I have ordered a couple of longer cables to link the lights. That will get them all power.
With just the 4 working there is a lot of light. It will be really bright with 10.
Now, the screw up. I wired the switch between the outlets. So of course the switch only works on one bank of lights. So, I will need to figure that out and run the wires properly. So for now my breaker is the switch.
I finished up and moved my van in the shop to protect it from the storm. We just had a little hail, but it wasn't too bad. Hopefully the bad weather has passed.
Feels good to stay dry doesn't it😊 Were you in there when it was raining? The noise can be deafening in those metal buildings. All the more reason to get some insulation up. Are you going to put power garage door openers in or just manual at this time? You might as well put some outlets in for those also😊
I hope to have a lift one of these days. I've blown through my budget so a lift will have to wait.
It does get loud when raining. I have lots of trees around and acorns hitting the roof is extremely loud. I keep thinking something in the shop has fallen.
No plans for garage door openers at the moment. I'm sure they will come one of these days. I will have to figure out where to put those outlets. I will most likely put an outlet between the garage doors. I can branch off of that for the ceiling power when the time comes.
