FTN's T4/SXE Build/Conversion Thread
Thank you sir! Now we wait for brokestroke's compound turbos to fire up so see an ultimateterer setup.

Those same neighbors won't mind the sound of your truck when they need you to pick something up or haul something away for them.
Such a stark contrast between your results, video, and build, versus the knucklehead results, video. and build that was brought to the attention of this forum a couple of months ago.
In your case, you bought everything yourself, you built everything yourself... including rebuilding items that did not seem to fit as installed initially, you didn't have a bevy of friends helping you wrench, you didn't have the use of a large commercial shop building, you clearly didn't have the income revenue stream from your resulting videos (given the possum video analytics comparison), and you didn't take the " me too " approach... you strove for something better. So let's see what better looks like:
Now, compare and contrast the photo above with the photos below, where the photo below is the result of a group of self described busted knuckleheads that sponsors provided products to, that turned back again to sponsors for continuous advice, that had a team of 5 or 6 guys wrenching on the project, in the luxury of a full blown off road race rig build shop, in the luxury of a large well lit commercial building, and with the incentive of the revenue from a you tube following that has netted hundreds of thousands of views. So let's see what they are all looking at.
BIG DIFFERENCE!
When I look at what those guys did, with all that they were given, I am sickened. It makes me sick how they selfishly tarnish the image of our community, as well as our environment.
On the other hand, when I look at what you did, I am humbled. It makes me proud to be able to voluntarily help facilitate a forum where self made, self supporting, can do innovators like you can tinker with something and make it better, not worse.
Your project personifies reasons why an aftermarket industry should exist.
By contrast, the knucklehead project personifies the reasons why the aftermarket industry is being regulated out of existence.
And the irony is that the aftermarket vendors sponsored the knucklehead project... which promotes and promulgates the careless and cavalier attitudes that will further constrict not only the aftermarket vendors, but likewise constrain us consumers from even being able to buy their products (hello, no customers = no business) or being able to attempt the good of what FordTruckNosmoke accomplished... all due to the bs that the knuckleheads cobbled up for more views.
[utag=member.php?u=247949]FordTruckNoob[/utag] ... thanks for setting the good example, and for sharing your trials and tribulations and boot strap can do on an aspirational project to obtain more power with greater efficiency, lesser EGT's, and NO SMOKE!
I'd love to put one on my truck, but unfortunately they don't make one for my turbo. The biggest turbo that they offer this VGT design for is the 467.7. Maybe some where down the line if they don't build one for my sxe472 I might change over to a 467.7 and then add the VGT on as well just to see how it runs.
To be honest, I think my biggest goal for my truck would have to be the 6 speed Allison. Now mind you, I am no where near doing the Allison install just yet, but I'm am salivating over that conversion.
Unfortunately, work has been terrible for me this year, as for many folks. But I am very hopeful that the good Lord will put this all behind us this year to come and we can all go back to work, and back to enjoying the fruits or our labors.
My truck is down right now as we speak. I've been chasing down a no start/ no run condition. After all of my diagnoses from the dual IPR's to both Hpop' pumps as well as the electrical side diagnostics, I think I got it narrowed down. I ended up pulling the injectors to reseal them, as well as the head plugs too. This should take care of it. I'm currently waiting for the O-rings to arrive from Riffraff diesel. They should be here on Tuesday, and maybe I'll knock it out over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Oh, and a big shout out to my good friend Brad for hanging in there with me. Sometimes bouncing ideas off of another person really helps to keep a guy focused and on the right track.
Again, congrats on the VGT build. It sounds like a hell of a set up.
@countrycar , I am curious about the Allison too but that's a lot of money. My bank account cannot afford to take another hit like the one it just did. Do let us know how you get on with the conversion though.
Here's what the exhaust sounds like when the exhaust brake function is activated.
Here is a quote for a CA conversion kit, and a built allison and converter. Not driveshafts not included in the price.
The quote is from another guy, he did a sam wyse stage 3 instead.
Pretty sure I will prolly not shell out this much cash....
FTN the turbonator is awesome!
I am just getting setup with data logging and would like to do that too when I share video.

The learning curve is a little steep and the data logged by FORScan needs some massaging before Dashware can use it though. Feel free to ping me with questions if you run into any roadblocks.
