I just stumbled into this thread and I'm happy I have.

My 2017 is running version 3.0 and Map NA1.15!

I pulled down SYN3 Updater and it is in the process of downloading everything to move to 3.4.20196 and NA 1.19.

I hope to try this after dinner tonight.

I have a 2021 F-350 XLT on order. I Also have the Sync Cable. It will be interesting to see what software version I have. Will reports back once the truck is in my possession. Until then .

All the files go to my downloads folder on windows then I copy over to the flash drive. Flash drive is formatted for exFAT. It’s a 32gb. So more than enough storage.

I downloaded winzip and unzipped all the compressed files. And I plug in and nothing. It recognizes a USB as it would a media device. But nothing happens otherwise. 🤷‍♂️

What am I doing wrong?

I just completed my upgrade from 3.0.19205 to 3.4.20196 without incident.

My NAV went from NA 1.15 to NA 1.19.

This took about 42 minutes to complete.

I need to learn what the calming screens are...

how did you get it to work? Mine won’t even recognize that there is any installation file there? I don’t have nav so im doing the no nav update.

I downloaded syn3-updater, filled out my version of synch and nav and then selected my 32GB usb stick. It took a long time to pull down and verify all the files.

Once syn3-updater reported as complete, I ejected the usb stick and went to my truck. I started the truck, double-checked that auto-shutoff was turned OFF.

I inserted the usb stick and let it in there until I got the 'green screen' indicating it was done and to remove the stick. This took ~42 minutes

For me the process followed the turtorial web paged exactly.

It was really that simple for me. I'm sorry, but I don't know what tips to give you to help.

interesting. I downloaded the sync 3. But in my version the 3.0.18093 then had the files go to my downloads folder. Then I went to the setup part had it format my 32 gb usb drive to exFAT and it wiped the drive. Selected the latest 3.4 version non nav. And it pulled down the files then I copied them to the usb. They came in as tar files and I tried to install that way and nothing. So then I went back to the computer and unzipped those files and tried again and still nothing. Nothing at all happens on mine.

I'm curious as to why Syn3-updater did not request you to select the USB drive? This is what 'automates' the construction of the USB stick to avoid the very issue you describe.

I thought the entire purpose of Syn3-updater was to do just that download the files necessary to update, verify they are 'good', and construct the USB stick properly.

Did you maybe miss the step to select the USB stick drive?

No I did. In the configuration i have the download path set to my C drive in the downloads folder (it alerted me not to have that go to the USB drive). Put in my full sync version 3.0.18093, APIM region to NA, and unticked Nav. Force Install Mode set to automatic (It selects Reformat when I go to run it). Then I do select my USB drive in the top section. Then again my region to NA. version to 3.4.20196 and non nav APIM.

It will then run the download. But during the process nothing installs to the flash drive itself. It formats the drive but I have to disconnect and reconnect the drive and then drag and drop the files to the drive after I reconnect it. But I never see the notification window from the tutorial saying “Would you like to update your current sync version in the app so it’s correct for future use?” As soon as it completes downloading the files the program completely closes and my flash drive disappears from list of drives. But the 4 TAR files all show up in my downloads folder as they’re supposed to.

I get 4 files when it’s finished they all come to my downloads folder but the program just exits. I don’t get any confirmation or anything. Should that be the case?

With or without unzipping the files in my truck it was the same result, recognizes the USB as a media device but that’s it. I only tried unzipping because I couldn’t figure out why it didn’t work the first time. I removed other USB connected devices, with truck off plugged in the USB and started the vehicle. Then, nothing. At a loss as to what I'm doing wrong

What version of syn3-updater are you using? I'm using 1.0.1.1.

I never touch the downloaded files. The app does everything from download, to verifying, to formatting the USB stick and copying the files there correctly. It was very simple.

Not sure the the non-nav part is the cause or not, but it is the only difference I see thus far.

Same. I am using 1.0.1.1 as well.

Weird...the directory goes to that folder and then it's set to install to the flash drive but nothing actually goes there. The software closes then I disconnect and reconnect the drive to get it to appear again...and then the drive is formatted but blank. So I have been manually moving the files over to the USB stick.

Maybe it is something with the non-nav? I appreciate the help though. Not sure what's going on with mine. I've been asking over on the Cyan Labs forums as well.

I would try writing the files directly to your USB stick, not your local disk. You definitely don't want to unzip them. Sync 3 expects them to be compressed. Here's my USB stick created by their software (note that I selected v3.3 as didn't want v3.4 so my files in the SyncMyRide folder would name different names).

Not sure if this will help or not...

So I redid my stick for the version you're wanting (latest non-nav v3.4). Looks like this.

those are the files I had. I just had to move them over to the drive. Not sure why that didn’t work. But I have them installing directly to the drive as we speak. when I went to do it I got a warning message that my download directory should be different than the USB location and to change the path but I clicked ok and then it started downloading anyway.

Taking MUCH longer to install this way versus the other so not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Will see what happens after this.
