About to pull the trigger on the CyanLabs download to upgrade my 2017 SCREW FX4 with 302A. It currently has Sync 3.0 and Nav vers: NA 1-15. I have a few questions before I do.
(Apologies in advance if these questions have already been asked):
The Ford Owners page says I can update to SYNC3 v3.0.20204. Anyone know what benefits or "upgrades" this has over the basic 3.0?
Do I need to update to this new version to use the CyanLabs Updater?
My current version does not show Climate Controls or heated seat controls on my screen; will v.3.4 add it?
I read somewhere that there are people opting for v. 3.2 instead of v. 3.4. Why? What's the difference/advantage?
Once installed it apparently sticks with the Mustang logo on the splash screen. Can this later be changed to the F150 or Lincoln options with Forscan or are you stuck with the Mustang?
What's the best USB stick for the job? USB 3.0? What size? 16G? 32G?
Thanks in advance. (If you are going to flame me for asking obvious questions... be gentle, its my first post on the forum)
I too upgraded my 2017 SCREW Lariat. I don't have answers for all, but based on my use...
1. The biggest benefits I've notices are a more appealing (visually) interface and the latest available navigation maps.
2. The Cyan Labs updater is just a means to an end. It provides an easy, straight forward process to upgrade from 3.0 to 3.4 (which otherwise wouldn't be available for our 2017's)
3. The upgraded version will only offer the features your current version supports. To turn on any other on-screen features you would have to use a program like forscan.
4. I don't know what 3.2 vs 3.4 differences are.
5. Once installed, it doesn't stick with the mustang logo. When I upgraded mine I feared this very same issue as through the entire process it kept showing the mustang, but when it was all finished, it booted with my normal boot screens and logo.
6.I used a 32GB USB 3.0 stick and it worked fine. I've read elsewhere where others had problems with the 3.0 and had to use a 2.0 stick, but I think CyanLabs must have addressed those.
I think a newer update just came out recently - if I've already updated to 3.4 but don't have the latest...can I just do this again and get the latest version?
When you already had 3.4 and upgraded - did it blank out the screen like before for the update or just say "updating software" at the top of the screen? That's what I've got right now...

Installed 21020 today. Was on 20351 before, and 21020 seems to be more smooth /responsive when selecting menu items. Limited time with it thus far, but seems like a good update.
Mine just showed "updating software" at the top of the screen when it updated.

Did you update to the 2020 maps at the same time or keep the 2019 maps? I havent used this app to update yet and wasn't sure if it was ok to update both at the same time.
I kept the maps that I had updated about a month-and-a-half ago from 20351 update. I can't recall if they are 19 or 20, but I updated them with whatever maps were out when 20351 was available.
It should be okay to do both at the same time I would think. I only use Google maps though. The Ford nav stuff is not my preference. Most times I'm just watching the jbv1 screen anyway.
I too did both updates at the same time. No problems. I chose the reformat option for the install. Took a while to download to my thumb drive, but the install into the truck took only 30 minutes. Really liking the new look.
I have Sync Software Version 2.0 and build 16074 with Maps Version NA 1 15. Most of the posts here have been about upgrades from Version 3.0 to Version 3.4. I am looking for someone who has recently done an upgrade from 2.0 up to 3.4. Have there been any issues or problems? Is it a good idea to do an intermediate update or simply go to 3.4? My truck’s build date is January 2017.
If this looks doable, it appears the CyanLabs updater is the way to go. Any helpful hints will be welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I've updated a 2016 F150 and 2017 Escape from 2.0 and 2.2 to 3.4 using Cyanlabs. Straight update, I didn't do any intermediate steps.
Has anyone noticed their audio playback is a bit glitchy when connected to Bluetooth? It's only when playing from Spotify or Pandora and will skip like 1/2 second.
Does it once every 4-5 songs. Phone calls are fine. I have not been able to successfully test whether this is the streaming services acting up or if it's the 3.4 update in my truck. Also have not yet tried to run a wifi update for 3.4 but will try that today.

Mine was like that from the factory and the truck came with 3.4 20196. I just upgraded to 21020 but haven't seen if it fixed it yet. I can report later.
As noted in the last post I updated to 21020 successfully but I left my maps on 119. When I attempted to download 2020 maps I get the below popups making sure I do not have a vehicle manufactured in 2020....
I have a 2021 model that was made in Dec 2020. Why would I not be able to download the newest maps?

The way you are able to update maps is not compatible with 2020+ APIM. There have been may reports of bricking brand new APIM trying to get updated maps. If you have a 21 with 19 maps you should be able to get the free update to 20 maps. Here is the link Sync 3 maps update
you will need your VIN and the ESN. (Not modem esn) to see if you are eligible
