When I do a 14 quart change I get a single drip that “gets ready“ to fall from the front of the bell housing and...that’s it. If I wipe that drip it doesn’t come back until the next time I change my oil. Now I like to leave it. It’s kinda like my truck buddy. 😂
How's your engine holding up now that you have some time and miles on it? Any thing you would do different?
Running like a top still just over 11k since the rebuild.
I would have replaced the oil pan so I didn’t have the damn drip...I made an oil absorbent pad diaper that I wire up between the flywheel cover and bell housing. Next oil change I’m replacing the pan...
The engine is still running like a top but I lost the transmission a few weeks ago. I just bolted up a Warren Competition and did quite a few other projects at the same time while I was under there. I might just keep this thread going and add to it with the transmission swap, custom transmission hose installation, toilet paper bypass filter delete, differential/transfer case breather relocation and differential cover upgrades. I should have taken more photos but I’m in the middle of it so I’ll start now.
I will get some good photos next days off when I’m under installing Amp Research steps and white LUX lights. I’m sure I will catch hell but I’ll post what I did. I also have UCF traction bars being made and they should be here in a couple of weeks.
Sorry I never got around to taking photos and posting the transmission install but I will get some more. I’ve been busy with family, working two jobs and all that. I have about 1200 miles on the transmission and had to get Warren to write my tunes because Gearhead could not get them right. It seems this is an issue between them and Warren transmissions.
Transfer case drained and out. The fluid was beautiful clear amber like fresh honey still! Had to jack her up high to get the transmission to clear I hate Chineeze junk but HF transmission jack for the win... Heavy sucka with the PML pan Cleaning/servicing rear end. Upgraded Yukon aluminum diff cover and Mobil1 Oooooo shiny! Beefy front diff cover with drain and fill plugs! This thing is 3/4” thick! Drain Toilet paper bypass filter delete So much room for activities!
Redneck rigging ready for lifting Viper Red Warren Competition 5R110W Billet Goerend torque converter with ARP bolts instead of studs and nuts Clean PML pan Mounted and crossmember back in place K&N diff and transfer case breather filters with 5/16” Gates fuel hose Aluminum angle mount
Lots going on under here...you can see the new 8AN teflon/braided stainless hoses on the left running under the frame rail. I used Gates transmission cooler hose to transition to the Mishimoto cooler barbs. The red Mishimoto cooler is my power steering cooler from the rebuild. Stainless hardware and cushion clamps mounted through existing frame holes. No bump stop to get in the way. Triple layered Thermatec heat shielding sleeve to protect the hose from the exhaust
Your rear cover looks just like my Ford cover. Sure would have been nice if they had put drains in them.
Thanks! They are identical except the Yukon is quite a bit cheaper. A drain would be very nice, I would have drilled and tapped for one but there was no good place for it. The transmission runs much cooler now. Before I was running 165-168 on average, now I’m at 125-130 and at an extended idle around 160-165. Time for the drain and fill after break in. Mercon LV is expensive but not bad considering the cost of the transmission, cooler and goodies to get her upgraded.
