Maybe it has been mentioned already, I just have not read the entire thread...has anyone used the Mudflap app? A friend who drives a truck told me about it. It is not as convenient to use as TSD, you do have to go in to the fuel desk, but it is a solid program. It works very well in conjunction with TSD, as you can almost always find a truck stop on one of the apps. I do not have a TSD station local to me that I can use for my regular driving, but I do have a Mudflap station. It does not offer the cash advance service that TSD does (or atleast I am unaware of it), and another major difference is you link it to a credit card. Just throwing it out there...if we need to start a new thread, we can do just that.
The Speedway in Beloit usually has the lowest prices, so whatever savings you get at that pump, adds up with even higher savings to other stations nearby. Up the road from there, add .10 per gallon, south add .40 cent per gallon. When you factor all that in, the savings are huge. Some days I have seen $30 in savings on just one fill. Some stations allow you to combine a savings card too.
What I like most is you get an invoice emailed to you and in the app itself within a few minutes of the transaction so you can keep better track of fuel costs.

Thanks for the mention of Mudflap. I am always interested in saving some money, especially when it is due to inflated prices for no good reason.
Based on the small amount of research I performed on Mudflap, it seems you arrive at a station, get a code via app, go inside to cashier, provide them the code and pump number, go out to pump and fill up, go back to cashier and pay for the transaction.
You don't have to go back in after pumping fuel. It just bills similar to TSD. I have an uncle that has started using both apps. He has a new 6.7 Ford, so he has to buy DEF. Apparently there is a huge difference in price buying DEF at the pump compared to buying the little jugs and boxes, and that has provided an additional savings and level of convenience for him when travelling.
There are all sorts of diesel cards for truckers, but not all can qualify for them as some require a certain volume of fuel per month. What I like is you can plan out where to fill up with their app. There is something called an upside app, but I doubt it will work with the TSD card, so either or.
I would need to see mudflap in action to compare it, but so far TSD has saved me hundreds this year alone. I have seen as low as 5 cents off to over $1 off per gallon, depends on which station has the lowest price and the deepest discount. T/A has the deepest discounts, Speedway and Loves have the least discounts since their pump prices are already low. So how much of a discount at those with Mudflap, and also can it be used at the auto aisle instead of the truck pumps? I haven't looked at their entire site yet to find the FAQ.
I have seen the Mudflap app come up a few times around here, but it never really seemed to go anywhere based on others comments... I don't know anything about it. The TSD card has worked great for me, and I have started using the Fuel Rewards program at Shell stations. I usually use the FR when I am not towing, and the TSD when I am towing. It limits me as to where I can fuel up, but in my area, the Shell station I use is the best option by a long shot, so it works. Also, it was mentioned above that "Speedway and Loves have the least discounts since their pump prices are already low." But that isn't the case in my area here in the SE. The Loves stations almost always have the highest prices, and the lowest discounts. If you use the TSD card at a Loves, they give a set $0.28 per gallon discount, and they charge a $0.40 fee (this is at all Loves). I typically fill up when I am between 1/4 and 1/2 tank, so around 20-ish gallons at a time and this usually saves me $5 - $6 after it's all said and done. The Speedways vary from station to station but charge a set fee of $0.65. The Speedways do usually have lower at the pump prices, and at times I have saved a bit more, but for the most part, I get the same savings as I would at a Loves. By far, the biggest discounts I have commonly found were at TA's. Many times I have saved well over $10 at a fill up, but their at the pump prices are all over the place. But their discounts just seem to be more. Something else worth mentioning, I typically prefer to stop at Loves, even though they are higher, but I feel like I can trust the quality of the fuel at Loves better than at some of these other stations. I have been to some pretty trashy Speedways and TA's, and at times have just kept driving when I actually see them. I also fueled up quite a bit at Casey's when I was in Iowa, however, the ones near me when I was there and that I trusted, the discount just wasn't enough to worry about so I just filled up at the pumps out front for regular price.
Yes, the discounts are regional as some Speedways and Loves are much higher and have the least discounts while others are just the opposite. T/A has the deepest discounts in my area, but not always. Some days can be up to a dollar while other days, .30. I have a picture of their prices when gas was $1 less than the Diesel. It is right off I39/90, so always will have higher prices than the off track stations.
I downloaded and set up the mudflap just so I can compare between them and the prices, at least in my area, are the same as TSD for the stations that match. TSD has a lot more locations too. What will come in handy though is having both while going down to Texas this May. Gives me options having one card wont.
Unlike TSD though, I can use my credit card that earns points, and may be a good solution for the travel since it won't come directly out of my account and I can pay it off a month later.
I hadn't done the math on the price per gallon yet and I thank you for doing it for me. That is cheaper than the gasoline was at most of the stops along the way.
I saved $4.60 on the way out because the truck and auxiliary tank were nearly full.
I find that the prices on their map does not match what the final price is due to the fees. I have to guess at it and then update when I get the bill. Thats my only complaint about the card. Compared to Mudflap, the prices are near identical after fees on TSD. I haven't used MF yet due to the stations I use being on TSD and not MF. I also like that it splits the DEF when filling too. In fact my last DEF fill, the savings paid for it. Free DEF, how can one not like that.
TSD announced they have worked out a deal with Loves. Around me they are now cheaper than TA.
Outstanding news! Thanks for the update.
Sure enough... I just checked the Open Roads app and saw Love's is a bit cheaper than the TA I filled across the street from Love's up at a couple of days ago.
