I just got a TSD card a few weeks ago, and we used it without issue. What I got charged at the pump (advertised price) was not what was eventually charged to my bank account (Discounted price). I saved $26 on my first use, and it didn't cost me a thing to set it up. I wished I would have signed up for this long ago because I could have saved hundreds of dollars. My wife and I typically only go to truck stops with the camper because of the convinence of them and just eath the higher published prices.
Sounds like a great program. Not willing to give up my banking information.
I felt the same way at first, especially when this opportunity first presented itself. Here we are years later and not one issue or conflict on my end or any that I have seen here or on other forums I browse. You have to do what 8s comfortable for you though.
I saw it thos way in the end... PayPal has my checking account number and routing number for deposits. They have had it for 15+ years and they are a lot more sketchy than TSD. I have life insurance policies that are automatic withdrawal from the same account. Some people have cell phone or utilities set up the same way.
ANY banking institution worth their salt has a robust fraud prevention and payback program that will help you out as their customer.
Again, you do what is comfortable for you, but I enjoy the .10 - $1.00 off per gallon I save each time the 75 gallons of diesel capacity needs to be refilled.
On another note... We used the TSD card on the 11th to fill up 43 gallons. We saved $20 and change off the advertised price at the pump and rolled on. On the 14th I received my settlement statement with details of the charge and discount. Early on the 17th (today) I received a second settlement statement which has never happened before.
I checked my bank account information/transactions and see a single EFT for the purchase of fuel, which is correct. In order to gather a bit more information, I decided to call TSD and see if this was the new normal.
I called at 10:05 eastern and I believe they are based out if Texas and are Central. A real live person answered on the second ring and I briefly described what I had seen in the two settlement statements with an information seeking tone. She quickly explained that there was a software update and an error was made by an employee only by way of sending out two settlement statements via email.
Only one EFT was authorized and the second settlement statement which was a duplicate of the first could be ignored. She apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused and asked if my concerns were addressed. I told her "absolutely" and thanked them for allowing the average Joe and Jane into their fuel savings program and this has been a blessing for us.
She was very responsive and thanked us for our participation as well.

Well that helps me as I have had the same situation over the the last few days (the second arrived today the 17 first on the 14). Now I do not have to call but I did send an email just before reading this.
Giving SSN is my turn off for some gas savings no thanks.
That is a concern for some and I respect their decision and viewpoints. Only they (you) know what works for your lifestyle.
When I was first considering the TSD card, I paused for a day or two when I reached the part of the application where they asked for SSN.
Although, after being in the military for 22+ years, I realized my SSN had already been leaked several times and was in hard and soft copy all over the globe, literally.
Regular free credit reports and bank account observations have led me to only having a couple fraudulent instances associated with the credit card. Our financial institution has a strong fraud department though and never had a problem with refunding fraudulent charges and issuing a new card.
Do you use any other fuel savings programs like Gas Buddy, Mudflap, Good Sam, your own EFS, etc?

I realize the military uses it can look at my dog tags from 39 years ago still in my possession. 😉
None of those. Just about all my "gas" is paid for by work and "diesel" is just the price of travel. Keep in mind my boondocking lifestyle offsets alot of the cost for travel/ daily living. Besides having a decent paying job.
I know a couple people that freely gave out their # for "savings" and the nightmare it was after it was stolen. I just like to lesson the possible chances.

SSI numbers are all over, bank, loans, vehicle registration, voter ID etc. TSD/EFS has been around since the 2000 that I'm aware of, I used EFS fueling a commercial truck back then and they were kind enough to allow RVer to use it. They can negotiate better prices buying by volume and they make some extra dollars with the fee plus 10%, I still save and don't have to run my card 3 or 4 times to fill the truck and transfer tank.
My bank has very strict security and I have a freeze notice (free) on my credit, it takes additional steps to insure it is me making an application. Problem solved, and I use both Mud Flap and Gas Buddy and find that TSD or Mud Flap normally have the best prices.
(BTW my dog tags have my service number not my SSI number)
I noticed lately that the price on the map is not even close to actual price paid. map $3.050 but actual price paid was $3.12. I must not be buying enough gallons for the full discount.

I do not believe there is any quantity required for the discount. I'm not sure how often the map price is updated, I'm sure not hourly, likely once a day.
