Filling up when we want to instead of when we have to is very freeing and stress free.

I look forward to seeing your end of year totals.

At least you still have the EFS app to fall back on or use exclusively if you like. I don't know the nature or specifics of the complaints about EFS that led to the integration of the Open Roads app, but I have no issues with using the EFS app.

I plan to keep both apps on my mobile device and use both of them or either one of them to recall the data I am looking for.
Quick add I'm at about $800 for the year right now. I suspect the year end will be close to a grand and we know how travels been this year, almost none existent. During a normal travel year I can see double that with 3/4 time RVing as we don't spend more than a week anywhere. NM to WA across to IN, down to TX and back to NM is the normal "loop," park site see and move on different route every year stopping to see relatives in many of the states.

I have three cards actually...one I use locally and the TSD and I still have my pilot/flying J.

I will use whatever is needed when it is time.

We just came off of a 4k mile trip hauling the 5er and used the TSD card on most of it. One thing I like is the app. You can put in your route and see fuel prices along the route. It marks the lowest prices, which are usually going to be a TA. I had just installed an auxiliary tank in the back of the pickup, so we could look ahead and see if we wanted to fill just the pickup, or do a full fuel up based on prices down the road. Now I know there are lots of fuel price apps out there, so that is nothing new. If you don't mind going through the truck lanes, then it is great! I think on one stop we saved at or more than .50 a gallon. On 70+ gallons, that is substantial!

We will be traveling 7,500 - 10,000 miles this summer with the 5th wheel in tow now that COVID restrictions are easing up a bit. We had plans to get up to AK this summer, but will delay that until next year due to the border crossing complications.

I am looking forward to saving money on fuel where I would not have saved in the past and did not in the past when we took these cross country trips. Your right sir, I have 75 gallons of fuel capacity and that is a substantial savings over time. I mean, if I can save like $20 a fill up... That is a winner winner chicken dinner, quite literally for me and my family.

Also, thank you for reminding me about the app. I will have to remember to install it on my new Android head unit I just put in the truck.

I've had the TSD Open Roads app on my phone for a while, but never used it. Is there a login/password that should transfer over from something else? Or do I need to create a new login from scratch?

You enter your card number and PIN number upon open of the app to log in. It was useful to us on our trip. Saved me from doing a full, both tanks fill up a couple of times when we saw that we could get a cheaper fill up down the road a ways.

It looks like the TSD Open Roads app is asking for an email address, not the card number. The card number/pin didn't work.

So here is a real world example of the savings. Yesterday I purchased diesel at the TA on the south side of I40 on the west side of OKC. Sign was at $2.999. I purchased 43.35 gallons for a total of $130.01. With the fee added, my bank account will be drafted for $109.50, a total savings of $20.51, making my per gallon price $2.526. The key to this is truck stop selection. TA almost always has the best price. Most others will not have near that level of savings.

And herein lies the problem that I have found with TSD. It's great thing if you can find a TA, their choice of fuel station to rep for the best price. It was Love's until a few months ago. My card became essentially useless unless I am traveling down the road and have the luxury of finding a TA. There are none around me that are close enough to warrant driving to them just for fuel. Love's or other participating stations net about $0.15 savings, while TA is going to be anywhere between $0.35 to $0.50.

For me, on a personal level, the real benefit is being able to use commercial diesel lanes at a fuel stop without going in the store to authorize the pump. Being able to pump 75 gallons of fuel without hassle is golden to me.

If I can save even 5 cents on top of that, great!

If I save nothing, but don't have to fight cars in the regular lanes when towing the 5th wheel, I am grateful. If I save nothing, but don't have to authorize the commercial pump, I am grateful.

Here is the thing about the TSD card, if you don't like it or what it offers, cut it up and throw it in the trash. Just like I did to my Good Sam card when I signed up for Coachnet last October.

Savings are nice on fuel and I enjoy using the funds on life enriching activities with my friends and family, but having instant access to commercial diesel lanes is the best part for me. Even if I had to pay a fee on top of the pump price, I would still use the card.

Travel safe everyone!

A kindred spirit, good bye Good Sams, even paying the .65 cent charge I still save. I don't need to go inside, I'm not cut off at $75 dollars and have to run the card again until full. My nearest T/A (current best price) is 80 miles away, with a transfer tank I fuel when I want not when I have to. I wait until in the area and top off everything, traveling I look ahead for a T/A along my route. I also get DEF when needed and know it's fresh with the amount they got through in any one day.

My wife uses the Good Sam card when she travels up to Wyoming in her car. The small discount and the known stop at Flying J are something she likes. When I'm in the F-350, it's something other than Flying J.

We are going on a trip in June, but so far the Good Sam discount or the TSD discount doesn't look great. Everywhere we would likely fuel, has stations $0.50 a gallon cheaper. I looked before, and TSD wasn't very convenient to use around here. I'll look again as we get closer.
