Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Up to 37.9 with overcast skies, but it is dry with no rain.
Going to go get the boat in a little bit, bring it to the house and give it a bath, de-winterize it and makes sure the engine fires up. If time permits, then I'll go load the camper. Heading for Detroit tomorrow and will set up camp and get the boat in the water. The Warden, son and granddaughter will come up Friday night after school and work.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Went down and hooked up to the boat and then had to pump up one of the brand new tires. Took it to town to the tire shop and they pulled a 12 penny nail out of it.
Then, running behind schedule, I got the boat washed, de-winterized, spark plugs in and fired her up. Lots of smoke for a minute and a little rough, but once the fogging was cleaned out, she settled right down to a purr.
Fishing poles and bait is loaded, still need to get a couple of tackle boxes in and make sure we have the correct poles. Going to throw in a couple of 5 gallon gas cans and we are set to go as far as the boat is concerned.
Detroit, Green Peter or Odell? Will have granddaughter with us and probably go for Rainbows up in the Hoover Arm in the area of the rock the rock. Something to keep a 9 year old girl occupied. She isn't much into the 'patience' of trolling gig just yet. And, I need to check out a new ultra light set up I just picked up. I'll check with my cousin and see if they have been doing any Kokes with jigs.
Good morning everybody. Another great day to be alive. Enjoy the sun. Jim, we were trolling Detroit off the island. Only caught one bow. Not sure of the stocking schedule. Soft light action rods are a must for Kokes. I’m using eagle claw glass Kokanee rods that you can get at bimart or sportsmen’s for around $25. Flashers and jigs. Good gig for old guys, squirmy kids, uh may not be best lol.

Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 34.4 and clear. Beautiful spring morning and I'm sure the 34.4 will quickly warm up once the sun gets above the horizon and starts having an effect.
That's the area we usually troll if we are going for Kokes. Had some problems with my kicker - trolling motor - on the new to us boat we picked up a year ago. I think we got that problem worked out over the winter 'recess'. We'll see if everything is good with it now. Stocking is being done a little differently at Detroit this year. ODFW isn't stocking Detroit this year per what I have read and heard. Army Corp of Engineers is contracting with a 3rd party. You have to go to the AC of E web page and look around for the links to the stocking schedule. General page for Portland District's fish-related information
Not sure what the deal is there.
Morning all. Nice morning with clear blue sky. Even the wildlife is happy it's not raining. A flicker was beating on the metal chimney this morning looking for a mate.
Nice Koke's skimr! Wish I was headed to the lake but no such luck. SO much work, so little time....

I really and truly do appreciate your sacrifice and dedication to funding my Social Security Fishing Fund. I'll hoist a beer in your honor tonight around the campfire right after I get camp set up and the boat launched & moored and the gear set for a morning fishing trip.
