Yep, if I get on it to pass or get out in traffic the idle hangs at 1600rpm. Some times snapping the throttle will get it to about 900rpm. When i get home pop the hood and push on the throttle lever I can get the idle down to 700rpm.

Yaa I need to pull the intake ducting to get better access, the cables feel smooth. I had problems with the throttle blade sticking it caused the gas pedal to feel like a brick had to stomp the pedal to get things moving.

Chris, I had a similar problem on my 87. Ended up cleaning the linkage with carb cleaner and then fluid filming everything including getting some fluid film down the cable under the sleeve. Also ended up having to replace the spring.
