ia 24 hours including rebuilding the axle or just installing time? This shop has done a lot of custom Jeep axle conversions and other custom suspension work. I know this is different but they seem confident and have read a lot on it.
I read over your install posts and you said about 20 hrs on the install which is about what I was budgeting. You did mention that the stock x drive line is to long to mount to the new Dana 60. I would imagine I should pull that from the donor as well? From the list I mentioned above I don’t think I’m missing anything.
Also what size of tires do you have on the x in the last picture with the new wheels installed?
Yes, that 20-24 hrs install time is NOT including refurbish/rebuild of the axles.
My rear axle fit fine, with exception of the flange that mates to the rear axle pinion. I had to use the one off the donor. The FRONT drive shaft was too long, and I had to have mine shortened a few inches. Get that one off the donor if you can.
I am running 2016 F250 Lariat rims with 275/75 R18 now a days and in that pic.

Ok thanks for clarifying that. I was pretty sure that's what you had stated. Are you rubbing at all with those tires? That's about a 34 inch tire right? The axle I am picking up has a level kit on it and now I am a little worried I will be to tall. Want to run a 35x12.50 r20 but don't want them to look to small. I want it to be about the same height as a 2015 f250 with a level kit.
Here is a picture of what I have planned for it on the exterior.
There is still a frame splice in the '08 and up frames.
The difference in the 2008+ frames is in the front section, that became hydroformed.
The manufacturing process of hydroforming (introduced to the light truck frame industry by General Motors for the GMT800 platform) enabled a deeper drawn shape to be formed out of the steel hydraulically. Ford used this dimensional flexibility to bring the front frame horns down low enough to meet FMVSS standards to eliminate the extra costs of Ford's previous FMVSS conformance solution... the Blocker Beam. So while the front shape of the 08+ frame is entirely different than what preceded, the frame splice is still there in the same location where the 99-07 frame splice is located.
Is that splice so all front frame pieces could remain the same and then they could make any wheelbase rear sections plus the option of the straight rails for the commercial trucks?
