Mike, does the steering stabilizer interfere with the radiator hoses at all?

I am running a T444E water pump, and it does not interfere with the lower hose.

Took the truck out for a shakedown, amazing. I definitely need to get a steering stabilizer installed ASAP. Turning radius helped a ton on some of the tight and narrow corners too.

Mike, did you ever get around to these measurements and have them written down somewhere? Just wondering.

I don't have them. I totally forgot to get them during install. Pulling some axles this weekend from the salvage yard. What did you want measured from and to?

Overall distance between wheel mounting surfaces. I know the offset on the wheels changed to account for the wider axle for newer trucks, but was never able to find exactly how much the axle changed in width.

Curious if anyone has tackled the rear axle swap and installed a rear sway bar setup. Any issues? Did you use a superduty kit or and Excursion kit?

I had a Hellwig bar on my Ex before the swap and kept it on there with the swap.

The mounting points for the rear sway bars are the same on the '05-'10 10.5" axles as the '00-'05 Excursion Sterling 10.5" axles. The variations in the stock sway bars are their thickness and the appropriate bushing/bracket for said thickness.

The front sway bar is completely different, and uses the mounting points that the 2wd Excursions use in front of the front wheels.

'05 thru '07 front sway bars are the same. In '08, Ford went to a bulkier front sway bar that is shaped a little different, and it has different end link mounting points on the axle. An '05-'07 end link will not work on an '08-'10. The '08-'10 sway bars will still bolt up to the front of our Excursions, despite the design change, with one caveat: You have to get M6 bolts and speed clips, since the '08-'10 bars switched to nuts on bolts in the frame to mount to vs. bolts going into the nuts in the bracket next to the frame to mount to.

The whole thing was about upgrading from the old leaf spring front suspension to a newer factory style coil spring front suspension along with better brakes.
I don't know of any factory rear coil spring setups on Ford trucks that can be swapped over to the older chassis.

Guys I’m looking into doing this and sourced a place that sells the front frame section complete as a “kit” for this swap. His price with that AND Athens matching rear axle is $1500. Does this seem like a fair price? I have checked anywhere else to get prices.
Also, in the name of saving my back and time, I’m wondering if it might just be easier in time and labor cost (my own man hours) to buy PMF brackets and buckets and coils, and source a front axle with arms and matching rear axle. I realize this will be more expensive but I was considering a 2.5” lift at the same time anyway so pulling the factory stuff off doesn’t really make that much sense to me.....I would still need the newer steering gearbox, front steering stuff and other incidentals.....

Depending on your abilities with drill bits and cutting tools, buying the PMF stuff will save you between 6 and 12 hours of SERIOUS work. You will need the brake master cylinder and the fittings in the ports to go with your new setup.

$1500 is a good deal if there is no rust on your prospective parts, and you really get everything you need from the list. Don't forget the parking brake cables and brackets, rear leafs, etc. You need more than just a rear axle.

This modification is going to raise your truck 2-2.5 inches on its own. You want additional height beyond that?
