Thanks. I am doing a SD60 under a 2wd 78 Crew Cab soon. Building the plan now, will start acquiring parts soon.
Already have the front and rear axles. Thought about using factory stuff, but seems like aftermarket makes packaging easier.
Not sure about easier for the arms but definitely on the brackets. The arms are pricey compared to the Ford ones that typically come with the axles off the donor. The brackets were reasonably priced compared to the cost of removing them from a donor. Most of my local yards won't allow you to harvest parts yourself and those that do don't really have anything worth getting.

I have them already. I plan to use late model rear suspension, too. My apologies, I meant acquiring the aftermarket parts. I have a complete front and rear suspension and 2 frame cuts.
On her way to be aligned. I didnt have any of the original steering gear so basically I eyeballed it and trailered to the alignment shop. Should be completed Monday afternoon. After that I'll throw on the sway bars and dual steering stabilizer which will complete this project. Will give an update next week.
I bought (from my local Parker store) two 24"x1/4" OD teflon lined stainless braided lines with male 1/8" pipe thread ends and then added female 1/8" pipe to 3/16" barb ends on one end to use for the vacuum hub locks. Will post some pics of that setup when I get her back.
I have been patiently waiting and perusing Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for a 4.30 front axle. They are significantly more rare than the 3.73. I have entertained the idea of regearing, but you can get an entire used axle for the cost of new gears and a rebuild kit, so it is difficult for me to justify.
For now I will live vicariously through everyone else's swaps.
Got her back today and went for an hour drive... Such an amazing improvement.
I do have a couple of issues... first is a small vibration from 25 to 55mph. I'll start checking nuts, bolts and changing one variable at a time until I have the culprit. Second is the vacuum hub locks don't engage. Have vacuum at both wheel ends. They turn manually from auto to lock easily. Hub locks are new. Is there a vacuum spec?
