This country is reaching a boiling point I fear, where we used to be able to have civil disagreements we now are starting to see the makings of civil war type behavior.
yup... im just waiting for that day to come... i can see it coming...
Went to buy some spark plugs for the mini on Amazon a few days ago. 11 in stock, but when I went to checkout there were only 2 available. Checking back to get the other 2 the next day and the price has gone up 50%, and it's stayed like that for a few days, even going up a bit more.
Is this an Amazon thing to maximize profits or am I just unlucky?
just unlucky... sometimes quantity will determine the prices on amazon... more you buy at one time youll get a bit of a discount..

It's not just you - if I check out quick enough, I just might get the price offered when I put it in the cart. I swear they have a program that starts edging up the price on things in your cart so you jump-on-it before it goes higher!
Pricing there is very fluid. Some have said it changes by how many times you look at something. I see it with sales changes, especially when the item for sale is offered by a company but supplied by Amazon. Or if like one company is willing to sell 4 items at $2.00, so once that source is ‘sold out’, the next higher vendor pricing is engaged, which might be $2.50.
Ive bought an item that was highly discounted for the general market, and after purchase it’s never been down to that pricing again. I’ve watched for 6 months now.
ive always gotten the price that was advertised on the page... didnt matter the vendor.. even after purchase if there was more than one ill go back to the same page and the price will be the same... its only been a few times ill see it increase after purchase on the same vendor...
It's called demand pricing. The Amazon computers run it and it is like what the airlines use.
If you don't get the item when you first look at it and then later come back the price has gone
up most times. The airlines have to use cookies to track you where Amazon just uses you account .
What gets me is that there were 11 in stock when I ordered, and I'm sure no one ordered 9 just before me, plus 50% is a big rise. I understand demand pricing but it looks like amazon is trying to gouge me with part-orders. First time it's happened so, like you say, could just be bad luck. If I'm not going to see the price drop in 6 months I need to go somewhere else for the others 😠
Maybe also need to anonymize my initial searches...
That might help.

The think about the airlines tickets I heard from a guy that does trips and reviews of the trips. He said that he has found that most of the airlines will give you this
really nice package price and if you don't jump on it and close out the session and later go back that the cookie that was set the last time you looked will tell the system
you had been there a short while ago and so it will charge you more for the ticket.
It's true with airlines. My initial search for tickets is usually about the best price I'll find. Only goes up as time goes on despite all the tricks you hear about like "only buy on Tuesdays" lol
I should default my browser to open in incognito mode!
Auto insurance is a racket. My wife's 2018 Fusion was hit in a parking deck while she was at work in the RR door. I took it for an estimate, $1200. Insurance will cover it with a deductible on collision which will make it look like she did it when it was a hit and run. Debating on if I will pay it or let insurance do it. I have one teen on my policy and will be adding another in 1 1/2 yrs so I don't need the rates to go up. The body shop did give me a customer pay price of $850 if I do use insurance so $350 more than my deductible.
Not sure if I have said this here or else where , but Amazon won’t get my buesness ever , the CEO makes 170 mil a year Tax free , the company don’t pay state ,local or federal taxes , what they are doing is taking out the ma&pop shops , too many people ordering goods on line these days , I have to admit I do it, just not through Amazon, I like to go to the store and test the product I’m looking at , I did experience from EBay what the seller has said New part offer, when I received it you could tell it was refurbished , buyer beware of the aftermarket and remakes / knock off from original parts , dam scammers anyway,Interesting on the price changes I have noticed this on many occasions.just thought hmmm adding a little more to cover free shipping .
Been caught on eBay with rip-offs, with Amazon over here you have to be careful of shipping costs. Sometimes it's more than the item and if you don't check...
Had a drama getting batteries for the truck. Bought from Amazon France but UPS couldn't find my address, they tried all week, with me saying exactly where I am. On the Friday I got 2 things: a message saying the batteries were going back to the seller and I was getting a refund; and a rockauto package delivered by - 😬

I have been avoiding Amazon and the only reason I would buy from there is if I could not find it anywhere else.
I 100% agree and I'll go one more step. It's time that antitrust laws be applied to them just like it was with Acme so many years ago.
same feelings here. especially truck parts lol, i much prefer to see it and handle it before i buy it. and i don't mind paying more in most cases. there are exceptions though lol, like a $6 window crank on amazon vs teh $45 one at autozone or $60 one at the dealership
I have ordered some parts from Ford Parts Giant before and had no problem.
A month or so ago, I needed the bracket that holds the interior door handle on my 07 Expedition. I could not find the number, so I asked FordPartsGiant for it. They told me 6L1Z-1621813-B. I assumed (foolishly) they knew what they were doing and ordered the part. When I pulled the door panel off and opened the cardboard box, it was the wrong part. They had given me the part number for the latch. I have tried to get an RMA four times. I have had nothing but radio silence. Twice I did it on their "get an RMA" button and twice on the chat where I was promised a response in 24 to 48 hours. I suspect since I opened the box, they won't take it back, but that is a bit of a problem since I did not know they had given me the wrong part number until I opened the box.
So, if you order anything you may have to return (including things that are FordPartsGiant's bad suggestions), don't open any boxes. Look straight through the cardboard or you will be stuck. Anyone want to buy a 6L1Z-1621813-8 cheap?
