New scroll compressor, new condenser, of course new drier/accumulator, and exactly the spec’d 28oz of 134. In order to replace the orifice in that car you have to spend two days while pulling the dash completely. They put the damn thing on the cabin side of the firewall.
Man I tell you this a/c in the expedition is crazy. We've never had a/c this good in any vehicle before. I were flip flops in the summer and get out of the vehicle with blue toes....it's awesome lol....now the truck...different story. Takes 20 miles to get cool. I think I need to do the job on it that you did on the ls

Sounds like a restriction in the system is causing high head pressure or you have too much refrigerant in the system. Is the cooling fan working properly? Anything blocking the condenser?

im suspecting the orifice tube... but havent had time to look at it with the move and everything... just had to replace the compressor couple months ago.. changed the orifice tube at the same time... worked fine for a couple months but now... wont even blow cold and just trips the pressure relief valve..

cooling fan works fine... no bent fins or anything like that on the condenser...

Did you replace the drier when you did the work? What was wrong with the compressor? Sometimes compressor failures cause debris to block the orifice tube.

nope on the drier.. main reason is the system was never completely discharged... or opened for long periods of time... was just open long enough to change out the compressor then was vacuumed down...

on the compressor the seal where the input shaft goes into the unit to drive the pump let go and was letting all my freon go free... the orifice tube i took out was fairly clean but did find a couple small coppery flakes on it.. but was nothing to be alarmed about.. (seen worse on others ive worked on).. but i always replace them whenever doing the compressor...

going to try bleeding down the pressure first before cracking the system back open...

tried to do some diagnosis today but today it behaved... the only thing i can see though is the high side seems to read higher than the reference chart... not sure what to make of that...

84*F today when i went to play with the system.. so used 85* for the refernce... low side seems to be just a couple psi higher on the psi mark in the middle of the reference.. which can be a variance issue there...

high side is reading around 290 but should be around 225 -275 at the highest for the temp... wondering how accurate the charts really are

and since it was working today output is around 47... when i would run down the highway it got down to 38 before but didnt today... so i dunno.. today worked fine...

So, keeping on the off-topic of a thread nature here....

Just spent time in Modoc's area and up in central Oregon -- smoke was improving but what a heck of a mess of burnt area...

Got home to find Mom-in-law, at a nice age of 91, just got scammed. Running flank here to try to get her accounts locked down -- these people are not human. Happened to my Mom just months ago: "Hi we're from Apple/Windows support and your computer is in trouble"... Then the personal and account info is handed over; well because it's Apple calling; or it's Microsoft. Nobody would pretend to be them, right?! F'n bast-rds...

BULLCRAP!!!

I'm mad and cant do chit about it...!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear of that Scott. Ah, the days of Henry the 8th punishment. I hope everything is getting locked-down.

At my wife's salon she keeps getting calls about it's the utility company needing a check and sending someone over. She's always up to date. Now she tells them to come on over, but a police officer will be there too. They hang up.

Sorry to hear that she got bit.

You might want to watch some of this guy on Youtube for a little payback.

I have not watched this one yet but have watched some of his other videos.
Not sure if PG13 safe or not.

My mother has been given orders to not give out any info unless she talks to myself or my sister first.
